Hello, and welcome to a new segment, the HaloCustoms Weekly™ Roundup!
I'm your wonderful host, ♥ Sky, and I'll be talking you through this weeks news in the Halo world and a few bits from beyond.
In our main headline tonight, Halo Wars 2 was released! Everyone's favourite RTS from the 26th Century is back with a bang, pitting Atriox and his hairy mates against the wiley old Cutter and the crew of his venerable ship, the Spirit of Fire. The release live stream aired last Thursday and gave everyone a glimpse of the full game, including some live blitz games between some of the 343i staff and community members, including our own lovable Psychoduck playing for the 343i team. If you missed the live stream, here's the VOD from the Xbox YouTube channel.
Be sure to keep an eye out for Mister Duck, he even gets some good screen time, taking...
"His Name... Is Atriox.
The whole damn covenant couldn't contain him at the height of their power.
All you've got is one old ship and half a crew to staff her?"
"Where you see half a crew, I see family.
And where you see one old ship, I see hope.
That is always worth fighting for!"
Halo Wars is back for the latest generation, this time you'll be facing up against a very angry brute with a giant hammer. It's not just him either, he's brought his big and hairy brute friends too, the Banished. You'll be fighting your battles on familiar ground, with the Ark taking centre stage in the latest confrontation between The UNSC and The Covenant. You'll be leading the UNSC forces from the Spirit of Fire against the Banished, an enemy so dangerous even the rest of the Covenant couldn't stop them. From your birds-eye view of the battlefield you'll have to fight your way across the...
Last Friday, Halo 5's Big Team Battle playlist got a refresh. All 12 of the maps already in the playlist saw updates of varying sizes and four new Forge maps were added. Three of these maps were submissions to the recent Meet Your Maker contest hosted here with help from our friends at BigTeamBattle.net, 343industries.org, and several YouTube outlets.
This update was a huge undertaking for 343's multiplayer team as well as the group of community members who helped make it a reality and was arguably the largest jump forward within a single matchmaking playlist since Halo 5's launch last fall.
It is finally September 8th! The start of the 2016 American Football season is hereHalo 5: Forge and Anvil's Legacy for Halo 5: Guardians (5.57GB update) have now officially dropped and you can download both RIGHT NOW! At this time we would like to welcome all new guests & members to HaloCustoms and we hope everybody, new and old alike, enjoys their time here! If you have any questions, please absolutely do not hesitate to contact myself and other staff members through use of the shoutbox or by private message.
Similarly, we have also recently launched a tutorial video which you can view below on how to use HaloCustoms and its many features on our official channel. Big thanks to Yeti for helping put it together...
With the Meet Your Maker Forge Contest in full swing, Big Team Battle is at the forefront of the minds of many. For a lot of us, BTB means enjoying varied gameplay experiences on big maps with a larger team at our backs. Our friends at BigTeamBattle.net are here to remind us that BTB has a fierce competitive side as well.
Starting at 12 PM PST, the tournament will take place on Saturday, July 30th 2016 (the day before the aforementioned contest's submission deadline). You can find some quick details on the event below. For full details, head on over to the Main Announcement on BTBnet!
If you haven't guessed it, the Warzone Firefight update is now live and is a rather hefty one sitting at about 7GB. Also for those of you with friends that don't own the game yet, get them to download Halo 5 for free! From today through to July 5th. Details on the contents of this update and information on the "Free Play Days" can be found in an in depth post I made on the matter. This also includes the full REQ list for this update.
On June 28th we were also treated to an exclusive look into new features added to Halo 5's forge in this update, as well as a look at everything else included in the update. You can find the official recording of the stream in it's entirety below...
In two days time, the largest update since the December update which bestowed forge upon us all will be available. Over the course of the weekend multiple official posts have gone out detailing what's included in the update along with the announcement of a week-long promotion to attract new players.
Cutting to the chase here. According to this post on the official Xbox news portal, you can find the following content included in the Warzone Firefight update;
New Game Mode – Warzone Firefight: Warzone Firefight is, by far, the biggest content release since the launch of Halo 5: Guardians! As a result of the beta in April, 343 Industries has taken player feedback to improve the game mode for...
Greetings one and all to this recap of this year's Xbox E3 Briefing. If you'd rather watch the entire event you can watch it on demand here. Otherwise, read on!
This year's E3 began on a sombre note, fortunately though that didn't last.
Microsoft were straight in for the kill with the recently leaked Xbox One S. 40% Smaller with an integrated PSU, HDR, internal storage up to 2tb, an updated controller and has the ability to be vertically mounted. Exciting stuff for those of us with limited space. Releases in August, starting from $299.
Next up we had some Gears of War 4. but before getting into the gory details, cross play was announced both in matchmaking and ownership of the game. Exciting stuff. This new initiative is called "Xbox Play Anywhere". Buy it once and play both on Xbox...
You most definitely did not read that wrong because I thought I did at first! Halo 5: Guardians Forge is coming to Windows 10 PCs later this year! The forge team at 343 Industries has, once again, dropped the mic to go above and beyond again to grace our PCs with the glory that is Forge - Halo 5: Guardians Edition for Windows 10 PCs. Not only will Forge - Halo 5: Guardians Edition include forge but on top of that we're receiving the FULL custom games experience with all arena maps and gametypes included (however you can only invite players from your friends list). Did I forget to mention that its free?
This is huge for avid forgers and PC gamers alike. What is everybody's take on this? Does anyone else have a gaming PC standing by, ready to take on the bull that is Forge - Halo 5: Guardians Edition by the horns? Are you considering getting (adderrson and I would recommend building one ) a gaming PC now...
Long ago, the forge community lived in peace. Then, everything changed when the Master Chief Collection attacked. Only the fileshare, master of content sharing, could stop them, but when the community needed it most, it vanished. ~100 days passed and we discovered the new fileshare... Yes, you heard right. Our beloved online fileshare is live on Halo Waypoint!
To view the filebrowser, visit Halo Waypoint and click your gamertag in the top right corner; this will bring up a drop down box. From that list, click on the "FILE BROWSER" option and voila, you're there! You can view any of your saved screenshots, videos, map variants, or game variants from this screen. To top it off, you can also browse the most downloaded files and view your bookmarks.
Now, this means good things for HaloCustoms! Remember when you found...
Over the last month, fans of Halo 5 have been teased with constant previews of the upcoming content drop for Summer - Warzone Firefight. Yesterday, 343 Industries continued the trend with a live stream of a full match of the mode, showcasing both the new and familiar features to come. In addition, they dropped a friendly reminder that the beta for Warzone Firefight will be available to the public etween April 14 - 19! If you missed the stream yesterday, you can still watch the broadcast on the Halo Twitch channel.
If you're unfamiliar with the term, Firefight is a mode in which up to four players cooperate in a battle against several waves of attackers. This mode in previous iterations allowed them to battle in environments based on campaign missions, on foot or in vehicles, and against...
Greetings fellow Halocustomians! At long last the BTB playlist has gotten a much-needed injection of new content. Starting this week, there are six brand SPNKrn' new forge maps available to be played in Matchmaking. Alongside the other maps already in the playlist, there are now 12 options in rotation, ensuring variety every time you play! Check out the new additions in the video above, and happy 'hogging!
Through the end of the January ranking season in Halo 5 (about two weeks), the first Community Forge playlist is available in Halo 5 matchmaking. This first playlist features Breakout maps created by some familiar names. Starting on January 28th, you'll have the opportunity to vote for your favorites on HaloWaypoint. The most popular maps will then be integrated permanently into the main Breakout playlist. For now, though, let's see which maps are enjoyed most by the HaloCustoms community. Feel free to select multiple maps in the poll above and weigh in with your thoughts on these maps and Community Forge playlists in general below.
Shouldn't it be Cartographers' Gift? There were five of us, after all!
Those who tuned in to Thursday's Video Game Awards will already be aware of some of what to expect from Halo 5's December update. The trailer gave us a glimpse of what's comingt in this upcoming pile of juicy Halo content.
Today's Halo Community Update serves up a hot plate of details on what to expect from what's shaping up to be quite a large addition to Halo 5: Guardians. Below, you can find an overview of what new treats you'll have access to once the update drops on "the week of the 15th".
343 Industries hosted their first live stream community update last night. According to Bravo, streams similar to this one will be broadcast each month in order to provide full coverage of the monthly Halo happenings. This time around, they discuss playlist updates, new features in The Battle of Shadow and Light, Big Team Battle, and more. You can find the video and a timetable of the more important segments below.
This week's Deals with Gold are now live. So let's take a gander, shall we?
Across the board this week there seems to be a fairly random offering on both platforms with a slight sports theme over on Xbox 360.
On Xbox One this week once again I'll be recommending yet another Killer Instinct fighter for just $1. It seems that they're selling a fighter a week for the game at 80% off, which is certainly an interesting proposition seeing how there aren't many games in the "fighting" genre currently on the system. This week's fighter is Thunder.
On Xbox 360 there is a few decent options to choose from, with both...
In just over a week, the BTB playlist will hit Halo 5's servers. The playlist will launch with four maps, three of which were a collaboration between community cartographers and 343's internal development team. More details will release on the maps at a later date, but for now you can catch a glimpse of each and learn a bit about them in the latest community update.
Deadlock: a reimagination of Standoff created by Nokyard in collaboration with 343
Guillotine: a reimagination of Headlong created by The Psycho Duck (who even likes that guy?) in collaboration with 343
Recurve: a reimagination of Longbow created by The Fated Fire in collaboration with 343
Today, Halo 5's multiplayer component launched for those who have managed to snag an early review copy of the game. Arena, Warzone, and co-op campaign all became available this afternoon, but the first item on my agenda was diving into Halo 5's custom game options.
The level of customization is impressive. Some of the highlights for me are adjusting grenade damage and explosive radius separately from the weapon damage ticker (I wish we could have done that for squad settings). The ability to customize strafe and base movement speed independently of one another is also very interesting. The options pertaining to spartan abilities will come in handy, both for those looking to fine tune the core player experience, and those intending to create wacky mini games.
Customization of the objective modes see some welcome additions as...
What's better than watching an action-packed trailer for Halo 5: Guardians? Doing so to the tune of Muse's Knights of Cydonia, of course! Halo 5's new, somewhat inappropriately named, "gameplay" trailer should give you your fill of story details, explosions, massive battles, explosions, and even a bit of actual gameplay.
It's time we asked that age-old question: what is the first thing you'll do in Halo 5: Guardians? I'm sure that forge's delayed release will simplify that question a bit, but there is still a hell of a lot of content in the game at launch. Will you be hunting the truth in campaign? Putting your skills to the test in arena? Or REQing noobs in Warzone? The game's release is just over two weeks away, so get ready!
Greetings all. Recently the latest weekly update landed on Halo Waypoint and in it contained some further forge information and MCC content update details. Other details about such things as the animated version of Fall of Reach were also covered. If you'd like to read more about that, feel free to click on the above link.
Here however we are going to focus on those first main two focal points Halo 5 Forge and the current state of MCC and it's future content update, using quotes and images from the Halo Waypoint article and also additional insight/feedback/comments from myself in regards to each thing they had to show us.
Firstly let's move on to Forge;
Following the initial coverage we have seen so far, 343i has now provided us with...
