I'm stuck on Halo 4, currently working on a Salvation map based on Temple by MrPokephile (I'm practically finished, just that I might add another teleporter for Flood).
So if anyone wants to help me playtest Version 242 of that Temple map, let me know. Most people that play Flood on H4 nowadays are sadly clueless as to what Salvation even is.
More on the Salvation map:
First a reference video:
The story is that a team of Spartans must infiltrate a recently overrun UNSC base before the Flood can access the AI inside.
I don't have pictures but I'm going to assume you all know what Temple looks like, at least from the video. It pretty much has unchanged aesthetics except for a few nice details.
Initial spawn is behind the default Temple initial spawn, down the ramp. There's a soft kill there to prevent AFK from ruining the game.
Phase 1 is up where the default Spartan spawn is, it's a Rescue phase which lasts 45 seconds. Players can detach a Turret and use it for more ammunition (it has to be detached because otherwise it can't get a line of sight). This phase is really important because you need to conserve ammo. Flood approach from 3 areas. The main area is at 0:04 in this video
other areas are right above the Spartans, and from the wall behind the crate which is to the left of the player at 1:44. There's a DMR ordnance on that crate. A gravity volume paired with a small bit of an incline sticking out of the ground prevent players from leaving this initial area.
After Phase 1, you move up the ramps to the next room. Here is a Warthog, ammunition, and a pair of terminals. One of the terminals is where the SAW spawns in Hivemind (on the wall) and takes ten seconds to activate. The other is in the large room with a Shotgun. It takes about 30 seconds to activate. After activating both terminals the shield doors (one of two Flood spawns for this phase) deactivate and allow you to pass through.
Phase 3 involves a simple Beacon escort from that main Phase 1 Flood spawn to the area where Spartans drop down into the level below (1:04 in the video)- this is now covered up by rocks. So the beacon acts as a bomb- I used it instead of a Bomb because I didn't want the bomb's timer.
Phase 4 is insane (and I don't think I'm biased). It captures the whole essence of the map as you defend a generator (actually is 3 layered generators) from the Flood (for two minutes), at the site where the Beacon was planted. What makes this phase so insane is the fact that the Flood will spawn on the roof above you about 90% of the time, the other 10% spawning in the pit at 0:53 in the video. It's a whole lot of fun- Flood are raining down from above and you're spraying them down with your ARs, your SAW (if you survive long enough this resupplies), and if you're smart the Warthog chaingun. This is where I got my Invincible. I would show the video of that Invincible here, but apparently Temporary History is pretty temporary.
So anyways. IF you successfully conquer those two minutes of fiery hell, the bomb explodes behind you. Don't worry, I used tons of visual functions to make a really sexy explosion. It even blasts you away. Quickly descend into the room below for Phase 5- if you're last squad standing, make sure you descend together because if someone dies up top there's no way to revive him.
Phase 5 is another Rescue phase, the holdout room shown at 1:20 in the video. Remember that the Warthog can be taken down here. The path to the left, at 1:13, is at this time blocked off, along with the initial Spartan Spawn (which later becomes a Flood spawn) and the door at 1:23. In this room you can buy an AR. It's sort of a breather... not really, but in comparison to Phase 4. Flood's only route is the same way you came in from. After holding out there for 45 seconds, the door at 1:23 opens up, along with the area at 1:13. Advance into the final room, where there is a Regeneration Field, mounted turrets etc. Activate a yellow AI, which takes one second. This activates three Sentry Turrets and triggers the final phase- me and my playtesters have only reached this phase once (and we beat it). This final phase has Flood come at you from your initial spawn and the same drop-down they've been coming down from for the last couple of phases. There is a territory within the boundaries of the 3 Sentry Turrets that you must stay in for 45 seconds. A small, frequently moving haven migrates to different places in this territory and provides Dexterity as well as other minor benefits. You must defend at least one of the generators, which are linked to Sentry Turrets such that destroying a generator destroys its turret, until you capture the rescue zone in order to beat the final Phase.
I also incorporated 4 Needlers as easter eggs. If you download the map, you should try to obtain them.
So if you're interested, my GT is gcw0068 and the map will probably be up within a couple of days (it's not uploading right now for some reason, that happens every once in a while).
Anyways... sorry for the long post.
