I hate CoD games, GTA and Saints Row. Any game that promotes violence on civilians just is not good in my book. It makes actual tragic events that happen day to day (airport shootings not as frequent of course) a joke. Kind of a sick punchline and it, to me, demeans anybody who has survived such an event.

Pong, PAC Man and Frogger are where it is at. Also LoZ is amazing. Not sure how anybody could hate LoZ but to each their own I suppose.

Now I am off to play some Sins of a Solar Empire.
Cod and gta show what happens in real life, they don't make actual tragedies a joke. In halo planets are destroyed and millions of innocent family's of Aliens killed just because there leaders started war. Yet you still play halo...

Ok lets start off with the bolded statement. CoD and GTA showing what happens in real life. That is exactly my problem. It is turning real life tragedies into entertainment. Have you ever been involved in a firefight as part of the military? Have you ever been a POW? Ever survived a drive by shooting or had some lunatic shoot up your street? No?

While I have not experienced many of those things I have experienced a shooting and it is no laughing matter. Not something that should ever be a form of entertainment. My uncle was a POW and he cant stand video games such as Battlefield, CoD and GTA. Why? Because they turn the sacrifices made by service men and woman all over the world into a joke. Crappy entertainment for children who really have no clue as to how brutal those acts are. How scaring they are. There is absolutely no excuse for shooting up an airport full of civilians as entertainment. Don't even try to excuse it as it is just sickening. The same goes for running around a city, driving over people, shooting them at random and killing cops.

Now then for the second half of your post.

Halo is dealing with futuristic events which in all probability wont play out ever. More to the point your playing as humanity vs aliens. Not humans vs humans (unless your talking MP but that is a whole other story). What is better is that your not out gunning down civilians. Your not shooting up airports to kill civilians but to save them from an alien invasion (Halo Reach). Your not going off to an alien planet and murdering children. Get the picture yet?

There's a reason gta and cod are rated m, they are adult games and touch on mature subjects. Plus I can't recall a mission where you were send go murder innocent people. People just do that because they want to, better to have someone with the desire to kill people play gta then do it in real life. Just like it better to blow off stress hitting a punching bag then punching someone else.

Is that the point of those particular missions however? No, it is not. The idea is to save those civilians. If your shooting them then, honestly, something is wrong with you.
How does killing ai in a video game make something wrong with you lol so killings is ok as long as there different then you

okay I agree with you about gta but about the airport shooting in mw2 you say there's no reason for shooting up those civilians true but is there a reason for chopping up a off duty soldier in a public place, or for killing thousands in a plane crashing in a civilian area with no military value, or to send kids out to you with TNT in there back pack, hell no but it happens and what happened in mw2 could really happen and that's why it is shown as a sad evil thing not a joke
and for the halo part read the books you'll see humans do genocide on the elites and try to kill the arbiter after H3

I didn't say that the airport shooting was the only problem I had with that game. I have a whole host of issues with that game, and the series for that matter.

Also I have read all the books, and yes there is genocide on both sides. Doesn't mean I am ok with that either but there is a difference. In the books you are not actively participating in said events, instead just reading about them. Video games have you participate in the act.

Killing in a video game is alright with me. Killing innocents, even in a video game, is not ok with me. If you are going around popping the civilians in Halo then you got issues.

People want to blow off steam, get some stress out. Sure I can understand that, but shooting up civilians, even in a video game is not a appropriate way to do it. It is the context that is the problem here. And yes I do believe that video games and what takes place in them (such as dismemberment and violence against civilians) affects younger people in their mentalities towards life. While not the only thing that does it, nor the largest, I do believe it does have an effect. Younger and younger people are playing violent games, which is poor parenting to me, and younger minds are far more easily influenced.

It's purely the parents fault for allowing there kids to mature content. It's no different then buying your kids porn, they are not always able to differentiate real life things and video games. Cod is probably the biggest offender because of not only the game but the community. Every time I play cod witch is very rarely there is always some buddy talking shit, excessively cussing, being racest, putting down other people, etc. it's not just cod that has these people but I rarely have this problem with halo or most other games I play. Something about cod just brings out the worst in people.

I've never understood Mass Effect. I played for about 20 hours on the first one, hoping it'd get better, but it's just far too sluggish. I reckon it's just a game that I've gotten to too late, and now it's way outdated. I've got no patience for it.

When Super Mario Galaxy came out, I was super excited. Bought it, and then my hopefulness died and the first signs of my teenage cynicism took root. Damn game was far too easy, and left me disappointed in just about everything. A game I had once loved received a sequel that I found too easy, and aimed at the younger children. It's really disappointing, like finding out that your Kindergarten teacher was a drug user.
