Hey guys!

We are very proud to inform you that HaloCustoms, Forge Cafe, and 343i.org have come together to host a tri-community 2v2 Forge contest. But wait, there's more! Following that, there will be a 2v2 Tournament using the top maps selected from the forge contest!
For all the info, head over to Forge Cafe or click the banner above.

Here is what undr zid (you may know him as Ziddy, Zidistic Undrtaker or Bob) has to say:

"Greetings to the community, and by the end of this article, communities. Today is the long awaited day of the announcement of a project that has been worked on and discussed by leaders and friends of 3 fantastic websites. Call it a trinity, a trio, or even a triad. Whatever label it falls under, the event that is just about to get underway is big. Proudly we announce the collaborative efforts of Forge Cafe, HaloCustoms, and 343Industries.org, to bring you a 2v2 Forge contest that will inevitably change into a full size tournament in it's later phase."

That's right, this event will be BIG, so you don't want to miss out on it:

"Let's get right to the point and learn about the basics of what this event is. All 3 communities will be active participants in this ongoing competition. Members from all communities will be competing for prizes and bragging rights that will spread across all forums. Registration, submissions, and the assembling of teams will take place at Forge Cafe. Organizing aspects of the competition, as well as judging, will take place across all 3 sites, with each website's Administration and Staff overseeing their own members' content.
The first phase is a 2v2 Forge contest. You build the maps, submit them, and we collectively and carefully select the lineup for the tournament. Easy right? At Forge Cafe, a forum will be established for the first phase of this competition. During the map submission phase, you will be prompted to select your "home" community when submitting your map. This will separate and organize all maps, leaving it up to the community leaders to judge their own member's maps, and in the end, filtering out the best from each site. At that point we will move to phase two, and the tournament will begin. I know, we are rather excited ourselves."

We're very excited to see how this contest evolves over time. Again, everything you need to know (Rules, Submissions, Deadlines) can be found here!
:fuzzle: loves community interaction :p

Two questions I haven't seen covered anywhere:
Which gametypes will be played (Is it Slayer only)?
Can a person submit multiple maps?

I would suggest asking at the Forge Cafe discussion forum. There's a Q&A forum set up for things like this.

Two questions I haven't seen covered anywhere:
Which gametypes will be played (Is it Slayer only)?
Can a person submit multiple maps?

-There are a few people right now working on the official gametype. It will be slayer, and from what I understand initial ordinance drops. As soon as any of us have the final word, we will surely post it here. Someone brought up the point of sprint, which makes sense since some people may base their designs on whether or not that ability as active. I don't see any reason why it would be turned off, but like I said it is out of my hands right now.

-I think it is best to keep it at 1 map per person since it is a competition.

Thank you for the response.
Forgive me if I submit multiple maps without ordnance drops. If my maps are disqualified, as least I'll know why. :p

I agree this is probably as good as a 2v2 game type gets. Not seeing the enemy on the radar just makes the players more sweaty its great! This will be an interesting contest.

Ah yes, thank you zid. :)

Update time!
  • There have been several questions regarding the number of map submissions per forger. If you haven't already been made aware, there is no limit on the amount of map submissions per forger for this contest, as long as the maps haven't been created prior to the announcement of the contest.
  • The deadline of the forge contest is fast approaching. This means that, in order to keep things moving steadily, sign-ups for the 2v2 competition should be posted in the coming days. Be on the lookout for more details coming very soon.
I will edit the original post with all the current information regarding this forge contest/2v2 tournament, so everything can be found in one place. If there are any more questions, ask away!

Is there any leeway on the start date? Mine was started 2 days before the contest was officially announced.

Also, I do not have gold, so I may have to give it to someone personally because of the fileshare restrictions. I may also be able to barrow a slot on someone elses.

I'm exited to see all the competition, hope I can join as well. Good luck everyone.

If I remember right, maps will only be accepted if they're started after the contest was announced at FC.

The idea behind forging contests in which this rule is implemented is to get forgers making something new and fresh. It keeps things interesting!

Also, checking the creation date is quite simple. :p It's displayed on the map's Waypoint link.

I have a few maps I've made since the 21st but theyre not 2v2, not quite ready for release or just experimental and wouldn't be too much competition. I guess I'll be passing on this one. Oh well. Good luck everyone entering!

I was advocating for a community-driven forge tournament for years at both FH and HaloCustoms. Nice to see it happening at long, long last.
