Maybe you're doing it wrong? I had no trouble getting a tier 4 altar up and running fairly quickly. I started putting all of my efforts into Runes of Self Sacrifice early on, so that by the time I was able to make a Well of Suffering I was able to dump 1000 LP into the altar per heart. Then, as it was easy as hell to make things at this point, I swapped all of the self sacrifice runes for Runes of Sacrifice and installed a huge Cursed-Earth mob spawner down below. I literally could not run out of blood without spamming 1 million LP rituals.

Next time around I'm planning to stick with a purely self-sacrifice altar. I found the Well of Suffering/ big mob grinder setup a bit overpowered in the end and I want to keep it a bit of a challenge. The mod definitely didn't feel grindy to me by any means, it's all about finding systems that allow you to put more blood into it faster.

It's the tier 2>3 progression I can never do, you need 25k LP but can only store 10k LP, and you need the tier 3 orb for nearly all the non-standard runes. I had a cursed earth mob grinder and I could never get enough LP out of it because the mobs never dropped down into the hole.

I still stand firm that early game it is better to do self-sacrifice. I was able to get my Magician's Blood Orb with 20 runes of self-sacrifice and a few healing potions/ some food on my first try. You just start with 10k in the altar, start the process, get yourself down to 1 heart, and chug some potions and food before starting with the knife again. I only used maybe 2-3 potions for this whole process. Making the actual tier 3 altar isn't hard at all, it just takes 20 more runes of any kind and 4 pieces of glowstone, which if you are adding self-sacrifice runes it gets easier all of the time. Mob-sacrifice based altars are really better for once you have a tier 4-5 altar, not a tier 2-3.

As of May 12, the NPC Village project on Build World is now complete. Over the past few days, I have been working on recreating an NPC Village from scratch by curing zombie villagers and gathering hundreds of pieces of wood, cobblestone, gravel and more on Build World and I am happy to say it has been a success! Every player is free to trade and interact with the village but please refrain from killing those who inhabit it (your punishment will be getting rekt by the Iron Golem who protects the village).

After starting from only 3 cured villagers, the village has blossomed into a town with at least 13 villagers who inhabit it fit with an Iron Golem whom automatically spawned just recently that now keeps an eye over protecting the villagers during the night. Zombie siege, anyone?

You may visit the new NPC Village which is located just South of Build World Spawn across the bridge! Enjoy!

I'm working on an slime spawn as we speak, I have a skeleton, zombie, and a spider spawn that gets you from level 0-25 in 15 minuets of being afk. After that it's an iron spawn then I can finish my auto sorter. Then on to bumper boats with the resources I have.

I'd like to ask if anyone is still actively playing on the server? I don't want to cut anyone off from working on their projects but I don't think we are seeing much activity anymore.

This always happens to servers, it's all new then everyone gets all the gear and builds their house and lose interest.

I don't think a reset of the server would drive up interest. I think this particular server has run its course. There;s very little else to do for most players. I will make sure that we get a world download set up however, so that people can keep their awesome builds.
I was too late :(

A world download would be great, although it still sucks that the server lost interest that quickly. I got bored of video games, so I know I haven't been on the server in a long time. Oh well, all things must come to an end.
