sadly, this is true, alot of people who sign up for halo customs, are people who sign up for anything and don't use the account they signed up for
. (it make me mad when people do this
)
Ok, let's discuss this point for a moment to sharpen the real issue here. People signed up for whatever their motives were and the number of custom games were much higher than they are now. the motives for signing up didn't change, but the number of customs did. So I don't see how the motive had anything to do with the number of customs.
The reason that the number of custom games went down is that people lost interest in Halo. Why? Well, across the board we see people just lost interest in Halo. It isn't just this site or this community. And with a lack of gamers the forgers have lost interest. Who are they forging for?
It is a very sad thing. Most of my friends who are forgers don't forge any longer nor do I see them playing Halo at all. They are playing other games if they are on at all.
343i just announced a contest for the new Ricochet game type and I haven't seen ANY of my friends except Nokyard (a community cartographer involved in this contest) forging for the contest. The contest wasn't of any interest to them at all to even crack open the forge one more time.
When Reach came out the forging community exploded and you could find all sorts of bnet groups to join and show off your maps. Forge Hub was a big name and a power house for showing off maps, but there were so many people forging and so many groups forming to create associations and communities within the forging community that you couldn't keep up with them all and you never had problems forming parties.
All I can say is that I am surprised that Halo Customs has any parties at all any more. If you have three successful lobbies in a single day/night, you are doing very well.
On another note, do those stats show successful parties that ran more than a couple games? Or are those parties that were scheduled on Halo Customs whether anyone RSVP'd or showed up or not? If the latter, then I can see that some of them were probably ran by people that just gave up due to a lack of interest by others with the parties they tried to form. So the stats may indicate a loss of interest in being ignored, but you would have to clarify what the stats indicate.
Let me add two more things now that i think about it. How many custom parties were there here at HC to test play any Rico contest maps? I checked and had trouble finding any. I think I saw one in the last week, but I don't recall when.
Also community involvement is low predominately everywhere. I believe that Halo 5 may restore a lot of forging and customs that come with it. But it is necessary to see that right now the community is simply LOW to non existent. I recommend that those of you at HC that are regulars think of HC as a place for the few close friendships you have rather than an all encompassing far reaching community site that it simply cannot be at this time (because there isn't any far reaching community at this time anywhere to be found). Let HC be the place where close friends frequent for friendship rather than for customs. When Halo 5 comes out HC will be positioned better and stronger if there there is any explosion of population (we can only hope).
