In the Seven Years War the lowest estimate of casualties is 900,000 and other sources go as high as 1.4 million. This war was between Prussia and an alliance of France, Austria, and Russia. The French and British also fought mostly at sea in this same time period (1756-1763), although, they were fighting an almost completely different war between each other. A Prussian commander named Frederick the Great said this, "It's easier to kill these Russians that it is to defeat them," after the battle of Zorndorf (25 August 1785)
P.S. I am unsure on all the dates seeing as my book is a little unclear.

The first black powder weapons were developed in Ancient China. They were trying to make a flame jet to shoot flames out of a tube at their enemy. To make that design work they required to put pebbles in the barrel to make the flame reach farther, after experimentation they found the pebbles did more damage and did damage from a father distance than a normal flame shooting out. This is when the first firearms were starting to be developed, the first designs would be known as hand cannons and not hand guns.

A Chinese weapon that was used against the Mongols was the "Fire Lance", this weapon had a long handle with a spike on the end which could be used to push into the ground for stability or as a weapon to hit incoming soldiers. The other end contained barrels with gun powder inside that when fired would shoot flames out that could potentially do fatal damage if the target was in a close proximity of the weapon. We would know this as an early design of the flamethrower, but actually this is one of the few designs that helped begin the production of firearms.
