What do you mean by locales? What do you mean by the map is "tall"?

locale: a place where something happens or is set, or that has particular events associated with it.
As I apply the term to Halo maps, it's how the map maker defines places in their map. Crates, lava, and that rusty look make it seem like some sort of foundry. That's good. However, asym maps should have some kind of identification system. Reference The Ark (Arknado) as an example. It has a lot of unique and readily identifiable locales. Color helps, too. In your reorganization, that's something you could improve on.

The total height of a map is the distance between the lowest and highest accessible levels. "Short" maps are generally flat or have structures comparable to road bumps. Engagements are hectic due to the lack of segmentation and ease of movement. "Tall" maps extend very far up, making it cumbersome to engage opponents between the top and bottom. Movement is almost punished.

Hopefully that clears it up.
