"Centuries of erosion have exposed the inner workings of this subterranean Forerunner complex."

Riptide is a medium sized squad map designed for one-flag CTF. The map is Forerunner themed and features a mix of natural terrain and artificial structures. There are three main lanes of approach for the attackers: The cave, the beach, and the river. The cave and the beach each pose different challenges and offer different advantages. Either side has small tower with a weapon useful for pushes, and a larger tower that is used to either stop attackers from pushing up their lane, or put suppressing fire into the defender base. The middle lane is the quickest flag route, but also the most dangerous due to the turret in the front of the defender base.

Vehicles can move freely between several routes and jumps as they fight against infantry or each other. Any vehicles driving around the defender base are forced to drive down the river or push into the far back of the base to access exit ramps leading to the middle of the map.

This is a map that I originally thought had no chance in the contest. The first build looked like a 4v4 map. But as testing went on this map got better and better. The map is designed to have many viable routes to take the flag and has a interesting flag capture point position. The map supports ghosts very well. Overall a very solid map.
