Map Preview Peak

Hello people of HaloCustoms,

Seeing as I haven't forged for sometime I thought I'd give a go and see what I could put together.

After some careful thought I decided to forge a remake of the map "Summit" from Call of Duty: Black Ops.

I don't usually do previews but seeing as it was originally a CoD map getting people to look at it on spec could be quite difficult as it would be assumed that it would be brown, flat and lifeless or poorly constructed (yes I've seen those nuketown and shipment remakes on youtube also *shudders*).

So here goes!

Map Name: Peak

Map Description: This abandoned research facility was once at the summit of UNSC technology, used now only for war games training exercises.

Supported Gametypes: Slayer, Capture the Flag, King of the Hill, Oddball, Ricochet, Hostage Rescue.

A new interior I added, mainly due to budget constraints but also adds a new route (centre path)

Finally please find a comparison of the map overhead from the original below;

As you can see although not identical It's fairly similar with all main defining features intact.

I look forward to your thoughts and comments on my current project below.

Looks pretty good, man! I've never played CoD...

What I would like to mention is, right on the first picture I saw those rocks... They look too seperated and unnatural if you know what I mean. Try to change them into *one* rock. :y:

The only slight issue there is that some of the more protruding rocks have been carefully placed as line of sight blockers, also I have run out of budget and in game you can only see them from underneath so is not as noticeable in game apposed to the screenshot but will look into it.

I remember this map. I actually quite enjoyed it way back when I still played CoD. I do have some feedback though.

This area won't work very well for competitive Halo gameplay. The blocks sticking out of the ground are just clutter and can very much impede movement.

I'd connect the two blocks together to define the movement in that area a little bit better.

I do get that this is a direct remake of Summit so it's still up to you if you wanna make any changes or not.

Unfortunately I was unable to recreate the exact layout of the main complex's interior due to budget constraints, the map only has $65 left of the overall budget and is fresh out of both blocks and wall pieces.

As basic as the interior I went for in the end is, it achieves 2 core purposes, line of sight blockers for each of the 4 entrances as well as to set up "halo jumps" which is more apparent in the screenshot I have posted above, the 2 blocks to the right as well as giving access to the broken window walkway also allow players to jump up to the upper portions of the centre complex via 2 windows that overlook the lower portion of the room.

As far as the second observation you made, a Sticky Detonator spawns in between the two columns both as an initial and random ordinance.

If you have any other observations or constructive criticism towards this map going in to the future (ideally on things non budget related such as spawning) please do let me know and I'll certainly look into improving those aspects.

Played this with you earlier. As far as game. Ports go, it's pretty successful. I haven't played BlOps more than once and I happened to get what I was playing on based on that server room thing.
The lift didn't work very well though, it might need setting a little closer into the wall.
Rocket launcher was too OP for the tight corners. I'd recommend using the rail gun instead.
