Hello fellow Halo fans! I was just was chatting in the Shoutbox earlier today about a gametype that I made up and created way back in Halo 3 when I was kindly informed by Pyschoduck that my idea sounded really interesting but he would rather have me make a post about it to be discussed rather than have me explain every detail in the Chat forum. So below is my game type idea and concept that I originally made in Halo 3 but I think that it could also have great potential in the upcoming Halo 5 if the following 2 things happened. 1) 343 Brings back the amazing VIP gametype which inspired and made my gametype idea possible! 2) If they remake Sandtrap or possibly another map that included the Elephant or better yet the more heavily Armored upgraded version called the Mammoth!! Remember how awesome it was in the Halo 4 Campaign!!?

Inspiration of my Game type idea: The VIP game type has always been one of me and my Halo friends all time favorite gametypes. Seeing the potential in the versatility for VIP, we were inspired to create some very unique, New and Fresh ideas and gametypes. Probably the most fun we had in all of the countless custom Halo 3 games we played was a gametype called "Gift Giver" in which teams would escort and protect their VIP en route to a series of destinations to score points with the help of vehicles and on foot. The sense of teamwork and the action packed qualities of the gameplay really made it stand out and kept my friends and I always coming back for more, pretty much every single time we played customs. Sensing the possibilities and potential of further VIP gametype creations I set out to make something different and unique using VIP,but that still had the "all for one and one for all" teamwork qualities and thrills that "Gift Giver" provided us with. What I created was something very unique that I had never seen done before or since with VIP and the map Sandtrap. Below are some of the details of how the gametype and a little bit of story that I put together to set up and help you envision the scenario a bit better.

GAME PLAY CONCEPTS: The Map I started with as a foundation for my idea was the BTB fan favorite Sand Trap and the Game type I created was dubbed "Reclaimer Run" referring to Master Chief of course. The Elephant I always thought was an amazingly unique and fresh gameplay idea that added some new and refreshing gameplay elements to Halo and I thought to myself that it would be cool if one team started out with a sort of beefed up version of the Elephant called "the Mammoth". On the map I created, one team would be the UNSC and they would have Master Chief (colored in Spartan Green of course) on their side, but the catch would be that hes injured and hobbled and basically your team has to escort him and protect him while transporting him around Sandtrap in the Mammoth to various destinations across Sandtrap. The Mammoth was obviously just the Elephant, but it was beefed up significantly with Extra turrets some Power Weapons and even a Guass Hog that spawns on the bottom level of the Mammoth itself. The other team is the Covenant armed with Covy and Brute technology and vehicles including the Ghost,Wraith,Chopper,Banshee and Prowler.Their goal would be to take down Master Chief primarily and to prevent him and the Elephant from advancing and reaching the destinations and scoring points while doing so. Below I listed some details about how both the attacking UNSC and the defending COVENANT team works.

"Reclaimer Run" Game type Details

UNSC Mission Details:
Goal - Protect Master Chief at all costs from Covenant attacks. Covenant forces are rumored to have heavy weapons and vehicles including Wraiths in the area, so utilize the Mammoth to ensure that the Chief Reaches his destination/destinations safely.

Weapons - Many weapons are provided to you ward off Covy attackers including most notably 1 Guass Hog, 1 Scorpion Tank (Never re-spawns so use it wisely to escort the Mammoth..), Spartan Laser,Rocket Launcher and Sniper Rifle. Additionally the UNSC Mammoth has been upgraded with heavy plated Armor and 4 Chaingun Turrets.

Covenant Mission Details:
Goal - Eliminate all Spartan threats in the area. The Demon (Master Chief) has been spotted in the area, kill him at all costs and make sure that he does not reach the destinations and make it to the enemy's extraction zone. Failure is not an option and if we ever want to show our faces around the Prophet ever again we must succeed and exterminate the human invaders.

Weapons - Take advantage of the tools given to you for this important task. Wraiths, Ghosts, a Chopper, Prowler and Banshees provided by our Prophet will give these arrogant invaders everything that they can handle and more.

Gametype Details and Scoring:

Scoring:
Attackers - Getting the VIP (Master Chief) to a destination is worth 4 points
Defenders - Killing the enemy VIP (Master Chief) is worth 5 points
Both Sides - Standard kills are worth 1 point
Rounds - There are 2 Rounds and the first team to get to 50 points ends the round for a possible perfect score of 100 kills or points when the game ends.
- After the first round, teams switch sides to provide a more than fair and balanced opportunity to score points.

Additional Details:

- Chief has an over-shield and a 10% damage boost (He is Master Chief after all.. )
- Though Chiefs stats are boosted the Chief has an injured leg and his shields also charge 50% slower. This is due to the damage that occurred as a result of a Drop Pod reverse thruster malfunction upon his deployment. This makes close guard of the Chief against Covy attackers even more vital for the UNSC to succeed. TEAM WORK IS A MUST!!
- Transport of the Master Chief in any other vehicle besides the Mammoth is NOT an option until he reaches the designated Extraction Zone. The Covenant forces in the area are said to be too heavily armed for other means of transportation to be sufficient enough for Chiefs safe transport.

Where to download the Map and Game type to test it for yourself ? :

Map Name - Reclaimer Run 2 (Updated and improved from the older version I made way back in 2009)
Game type Name - Chief Escort 2
- Both the gametype and the Map can be downloaded in my Halo 3 Fileshare. My gamer tag is OTT2OWN
- If your interested in this concept and enjoyed this post that I threw together, please download and try it out for yourself and if you like, come back and post in this forum to tell me what you think about it and how you think that the possibilities and new possible additions and features of Halo 5 could work with this exciting VIP gametype concept. All feedback and opinions about this will be highly appreciated!! Thanks so much for reading fellow Forgers!! May the Forge be with you!! ;)

There's a little typo at the end of your first paragraph "Halo Reach's campaign". Just letting you know.

Great type up by the way. I think I played this gametype during the last THFE event. It was super fun and it was interesting to see how the team work for each team played out as well as the difference that each species weapons/vehicles effected gameplay. ^.^

SOLIDSNAKEee your absolutely right the "Mammoth" was in the Halo 4 Campaign and not Reach's ,thanks for letting me know about the typo! Did you seriously play this!?? I had no idea that anyone would be testing this out.. and if I did I would of certainly tried to be there!! ;'( If you ever see that someone is going to playtest it again please let me know if you can or save the replay if possible,I would highly appreciate it!! It's been ages since this map has gotten a proper test with a big party.. Did the teamwork aspect of protecting Master Chief and escorting him to the destinations play out pretty well in the tests? Thanks for the feedback,I'm very glad that you enjoyed it Snake!! ;)

@OTT2OWN I thought the map played extremely well. I'm not sure if it was exactly this gametype/map but it sounds extremely accurate to what I played. It was tricky while we were playing as the covies but when ever we started to utilize our team work ( and the banshee ) we soon turned the tide of the battle.

And just to land my partner in crime knee deep in it, we we're playing this with Master Debaytes during his Halo 3 lobby for the latest THFE event. So you may want to hit him up as he may still have the map.

It only had 1 elephant on the map and the UNSC team got 1 Guass that spawns on the Elephant and a Scorpion tank that spawns near that weird broken UNSC Walker thing correct? But I really don't mind at all if anyone plays it of course,I just would love to be there and to see if it played as fun as I remember it back in day in Halo 3. I would really love to see the idea or something very similar brought back and implemented into HAlo 5 as a possible new competitive style game type. But yeah as the map progresses the Covenant get stronger and get more heavy vehicles and the Elephant has to travel closer and closer and almost straight through the Covenant base.
