Totally. Anybody else remember Halo 4?

To be fair though, the additions to H5 look good in my opinion. So long as competition and fairness are the highest priorities, H4 won't repeat itself again.

Modern day gaming isn't about being the best anymore. It's about making you think you're the best, when in reality you're exactly the same as everyone else. Everything flashes up, highlighting everything you do so you can bask in your own self-glory. You sit and see your points rack up for doing basic things, forgetting that nearly every other player in the game is basking in their own glory too.

Games used to be challenging; strategising, teamwork, skill, intelligence.
Now, it's rare you'll find a game that doesn't have kids playing it. It's not a bad thing having kids play the games, we all got here from gaming as kids, but what is bad is that the games are made now so kids can do things.
Games are rarely challenging, or rarely offer any reward or sense of achievement if there are elements of challenge included...

An Overkill in Lone Wolves was an achievement in Halo 3... Now you have "Save 5 different game type variants." -Why?
If achievements weren't your motivation, you had ranking systems that meant something. It gave you fuel to prove yourself... But now it's just time consuming XP farming -why?

The problem with gaming these days is everyone wants to be better at something, but the games limit you to be the exact same as everyone else. But that can't happen because knowing you're bested all the time means that you're not the best. Knowing you're failing spreads discontent amongst most players. Discontent means less sales. Ultimately developers make the game with one objective; There is no challenge.
A gamer can play for a day and ace a game 100%, another can play it for a year and complete it 100%. There becomes nothing in either players completion because everyone starts and ends at the exact same point... The only difference is time, which is not in a player's control.
Gaming is now about luck, randomness and the ability to grind something down (beyond your value of entertainment).

Is Halo changing? Of course it is... It will never be the game it used to be because those who can't face a challenge will not play it... And this unfortunately is the sad truth.

The release of MCC goes to show it's only about money, otherwise 343 would have done the right thing and delayed the release, or partially released the game to pre-order players as beta testers (or early access... Whatever).

It's a damn shame really.
