Map THFE Feature: Treetops

As the hunt for the purple dinosaur eggs continues, your squad (sans you, as you were stepped on by a Mantis last time) is shipped out to a Forerunner installation of some sort. This installation is a bit of an anomaly in that it is perched atop a massive petrified tree trunk in the middle of the ocean. How this situation came to be is as pertinent a question as why they still let me write these articles.

Still, what this map lacks in plausible purple dinosaur-related back story, it more than makes up for in other areas. Treetops is a Guardian-inspired map which plays like a dream. Towers surrounding the central purple dinosaur egg hatchery platform create three opposing contestable power positions. This combined with excellent movement options around the map makes for one of the best 1 Site Extraction experiences around. If competitive play isn't really your thing, fear not. I think MockKnizzle is setting it up for Hot Potatoes soon. :y:

Have a map of your own you'd like to submit to THFE? Head on over to our submission forums and post today (but read the damned guidelines first)!

Did the red team win that game I can't remember but what I can say is this is a solid map that is very competitive in any aspect. You will not get spawn killed but this map is so close quartered that if you climb over a ridge then you be right in the battle. I don't think I didn't use a single part of this map to my advantage except I never got a change to use those fusion coils. none the less this map is very solid and a beauty upon inspiration of Guardian.

Half way through the video I was going to rant about how you should feature unique maps, but you convinced me near the end.

The two most important things we are looking for are originality and gameplay. a map needs to play exceptionally well but also do something that hasn't been done before (or improve greatly upon something that has) in order to be featured.

This map faszinated me so much, that I want to share some jumps with you guys! :y:

Bud's Jump Guide For Treetops New

Bottom gold to top mid. Jump to the left side of the rock, hold crouch for a second and jump again. There you go!

Awesome way to invade the red tower from bottom mid. Slide jump upwards, then a sprinting crouch jump over the railing.

What I love about this map is that you have so many options. Like from this rock here: Sniper spawn to the left bottom, blue base bottom and blue base top (little rock there/sprinting crouch jump).

There are many "Knowing what's behind" jumps included. They are easy, but you gotta know your routes and jump ranges. Red middle to bottom mid.

Blue bridge to bottom middle/green

ugcuserfile-9a24cc86-4c74-4b1b-9380-a9f221156147-218641895295f7e2-full.jpeg

Blue bottom to Sniper Rifle. Pretty risky/sprinting corner jump.

ugcuserfile-64efa683-dd92-4484-b377-c4ca8df86874-656dadf70673d080-full.jpeg

Green box to blue bridge with a sprinting crouch jump.

ugcuserfile-d197ae5f-b54d-4137-a28d-f10d1c7dd6e1-e66c6112162555d4-full.jpeg

So many options again.... Jump up the railing to the left or right and make a crouch jump to Gold top or to the right to reach the red base faster (risky).

ugcuserfile-b7b1ad92-ca34-4672-a045-4b1f4375c0d4-c2917a38572fc6d1-full.jpeg

Just jump off the blue bridge to take cover. No risk at all.

ugcuserfile-346beaef-5e5c-445e-91d5-6ee787b57429-43c47279554b41e0-full.jpeg

Bottom Red to bottom mid with a sprinting crouch jump.

ugcuserfile-ee1d692f-4d42-4df2-8e6e-9432888ebab0-224a5052b25d5350-full.jpeg

From the railing up to that spot with a crouch jump and then a with sprinting jump to Red Middle.

ugcuserfile-fdc510cc-2f83-4cd1-918c-ea3a27bfdb49-c24d4b8346e574d6-full.jpeg

A huugge shortcut from Green to Red base. Sprinting crouch jump/very risky, but a huge shortcut.

Nice from Mock for not putting a kill boundary up there. :D

Alright, I've actually found a *lot* more jumps than that, but these are the less obvious ones and most useful ones. I don't know, I just wanted to share this with you guys...

See ya.
