Oh has the time certainly flown by this April, and so have all the happenings on HaloCustoms. Instead of posting a recap for each individual event, we're going to end the month of April on HaloCustoms with a bang! Join us on this text-based ride as we recap all of the main events and announcements that took place this past April!
Note: Keep your hands inside the thread at all times!
Every year on HaloCustoms, we always do something silly on April 1st, whether it be rainbow colored names, upside-down text or even an experience that rendered HaloCustoms funny, yet extremely difficult to use (sorry about that!). Last year we've started a tradition to host a contest on every April 1st; to make the worst map ever. This was heavily influenced by a certain map that was named after the legendary Nikola Tesla that was potentially going to make its way into Season 2 of the Halo Championship Series in Halo 2: Anniversary.
This year's edition was truly a sight to behold. Due to certain circumstances (definitely not having to do with accidentally posting the announcement at the last minute ), forgers had to finish their map one week after the announcement, leaving most with 6 days, 23 hours and 45 minutes left to spare to finish their "sooper speshil" creations. In the end, we thank all forgers who created maps polished turds for this event! Enjoy the recap video!
HaloCustoms Official YouTube Channel
This was a project that has been in the works for some time now but we were finally able to get it off of its feet this April! The decision to start our own channel was made after a partnership with HaloCustoms ended with another channel. Now that we have a channel under our own name, expect to see frequent content relating to the affairs of the HaloCustoms site. The channel is a direct support to the site to announce official site events, contests and competitions while featuring community content as map features/staff picks from time-to-time. Our current video team on the channel are SOLIDSNAKEee, HAL0 M4N, and yours truly Jesus in Malibu.
P.S. Thank you for the shout-outs Drizzy_Dan and Zandril!
Shortly after the Ghosts of Meridian update for Halo 5: Guardians, 343 Industries included a special surprise in their Halo Community Update: Warzone Firefight beta. Originally the beta was supposed to run from April 14-18 however due to minor server issues when the beta initially launched, 343 Industries took the liberty to extend the beta another day to April 19th.
What's the point in a big Halo event if HaloCustoms doesn't join in on the fun? We announced the HaloCustoms Saves the World event for the weekend of the Warzone Firefight beta. Three hosts, SOLIDSNAKEee, myself and Psychoduck hosted lobbies over the course of Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the weekend of the beta to accommodate for the shorter lobby size of 8 players. This event was streamed on our Twitch channel "HaloCustoms_Official" and was recorded for the recap video that you will see below.
Thanks to all who came out and participated in this event, we hope to host more HaloCustoms Saves the World events soon when Warzone Firefight officially launches sometime this summer!
HaloCustoms just recently celebrated another milestone! We just passed 20,000 registered members this last Friday and to celebrate with you guys, we're raffling off a code for 9 Gold REQ packs in Halo 5! All you have to do is post in the thread here about your favorite memory of HaloCustoms to enter! We will end the raffle and announce a winner on Friday, May 6th, so don't forget!
And that about wraps things up--for April at least. Stay tuned for the happenings we have in store for this May... we promise we have something super special to announce real soon.
