DO NOT EVEN ATTEMPT TO READ THIS THREAD IF YOU DON'T WANT SPOILERS. GO PLAY THE GAME THEN COME BACK HERE AFTER

Did they go?

...good.

So, that was fun huh?

Chief and Arby never got to talk, which was disappointing.

I assume there's more if you beat it on legendary.

Anyone think Roland (Infinity AI) is hiding something? Maybe he'll join Cortana in the next game.

I'm a fan of Cortana's new get up, less implied nudity and it suits her ascension to holder of the mantle.

It's likely he's hiding something. I'm pretty sure that Ancilla reached out to him.

I listened carefully when they played all the AI's calling back to Cortana pledging their aligence to her, didn't hear him specifically though.

FOR DRAGO:

CORTANA BECOMES THE NEW HOLDER OF THE MANTLE AND THREATENS TO KILL EVERYONE AND LOCKS CHIEF IN A BALL SAME AS DIDACT WAS TO KEEP HIM "SAFE" LOCKE AND OSIRIS FREE HIM

For Dragon's DeadBox :
Cortana found her way into slipspace along with the Didact's ship after the Chief defeated him above Earth. She was sent to the Domain where she was cured of her rampancy and then was persuaded by Warden Eternal that she and all over AI like herself should hold the Mantle of Responsibility. In doing so, she is the one calling the Guardians and indirectly killing many people in the process.

tl;dr it was Cortana all along and she's the antagonist. Cliche as fuck

I'm still trying to get past the HER BEING ALIVE part. Seriously, being cured of rampancy is one thing (if you want to call it a cure), but where's the part about her living from being splintered in the 1st place back in 4?

She was absorbed into the forerunner network and that's obviously extremely powerful, much more so than any human or covvy tech. She basically becomes on par with the Librarian or Didact in terms of power, above that of the monitors like Spark and Exuberant (you meet her in H5G)

Her sudden bat-shit level of crazy may also be on account of her A) Going through extensive rampancy before being "cured" and B) The splitting at the end of H4.

Does anyone else not understand the large amount of complaints about the overall story? I felt as though it was stronger in this game than many of the previous, and they FINALLY used the covenant species real names. They actually refer to them as that rather than the terms the UNSC assigned them. Getting to fight on the elite home world was also great.

There were a few weaknesses in the story for me, such as the irony that the next guardian just happened to be on the Elite homeworld, but it also served as a good excuse to bring back the Arbiter into the game and I hope that he's in H6 and he and Chief get to partner up again like in H3. I was disappointed at the lack of dialogue between those two as well.

I think that they hyped this game up to be a big battle between Chief and Locke when infact it was nothing like that and just turned out to be Locke trying to rescue Chief after figuring out what was going on about half way through. Chief never went "rogue" as such, he just got suckered in by Cortana manipulating him.

I get the elite home world complaint, but Halo 3's believe ad ended up having nothing to do with Halo 3 and it didn't hurt people's opinion of the story. That said, yea they could of found a better way to market the game.

I think the H3 believe ad was just a way of advertising the game, whereas the Hunt the Truth campaign for H5G was marketed as a way of getting an inside look at what might happen in the game. Whomever did the marketing needs a reality check and firing out of a cannon. I ignored all of the Hunt the Truth stuff and I don't feel like I missed out on anything that could have helped the story make sense.

I've just finished playing the campaign, and I think it was really well done, 9 out of 10. can't wait for Halo 6.
