Welcome to Halo Customs! You, my friend, are in luck because not only do we have a great community here, we have a very cool custom games system, too. Looking to play in a lobby featuring classic infection in Halo 3? You can probably find a lobby for that here. If not, you can create one yourself! This guide will tour you through what you can expect from Halo Customs.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HOW DO I JOIN A CUSTOM LOBBY? So you want to take part in the journey that is custom games, huh? Well, there are two different ways to begin and they both happen to be on the forums page. The first is the "Join Lobby" button under "Customs & Maps" and the second is a convenient list of lobbies located in the sidebar.
THE UPCOMING VIEW

1TT0Qm1.png

The Upcoming View hosts a chronological list of the custom lobbies happening from now to... well, the end of time. Here, you can find the essential information about a lobby including its title, the start time, and an image describing which installment of Halo you can expect. There are a total of nine different images, each representing a respective game.
Now, say that you've been itching to play some classic BTB with a cool group of people in Halo CE. You scroll through the upcoming view and find yourself an interesting lobby that just so happens to settle right into your busy schedule. What now?
THE LOBBY THREAD

ep9DKva.png

When you select a lobby, you should be redirected to its thread where you can find a written lobby description along with the information from before. Now, focus your attention to the right. We like to call that green button there the RSVP button; shes your ticket into the show! When you press her, your username is automatically added to the reservations list and you're prompted to send your host a message via Xbox Live.

Now you're all set to receive that invitation! Still, we recommend that you read the lobby description carefully to ensure you've done everything necessary to guarantee yourself a spot. If you need to cancel your reservation, you can simply press the cancel button.
THE RATING SYSTEM

Remember that green bar in the lobby thread? That represents a host rating, a net sum of both the positive and negative ratings they've earned through hosting. If you receive a notification from your host after their lobby ends, that more than likely means they want you to rate it. You have two options here: + representing good and - representing bad. You're completely free to choose either based on your justifiable opinion!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HOW DO I CREATE A CUSTOM LOBBY? Rewind a little now. Let's say that interesting BTB lobby from before explodes, leaving your hopes and dreams crushed. What now? You should create your own lobby of course! Hosting is a little more complicated but rewarding all the same. You can start on that road in much the same way as before by pressing "Create a Game" on the forums page.
MAKING A LOBBY

You should be redirected to a blank lobby template, where you'll be prompted to fill out some fields and write a description of your lobby. We highly recommend that you put some effort into this segment. A well written thread can be the difference between 2 RSVPs and 20. If you need a little help, please refer to the awesome links below.

To add to the "Build-a-lobby" section, I personally would recommend scheduling your lobbies at least a day or two ahead of time to let more people discover your lobby and have time to plan for it accordingly. Great post, Aub! :y:

I want to play some big custom infection/flood games. How do I do that? Or invite me: CodyUpInThisBich
I would highly recommend to thoroughly read the original post that Auburn put his time and effort into creating. It should help you with your endeavor. :y:

Can an automated system send this to new people in their inbox or something. Please. I can't take all of the horrible lobby write ups any more. And yes, I know that won't stop them but hopefully it will greatly diminish them.

And for those who aren't exactly sure what constitutes as a good lobby write up, click on this.

That's a great idea. I vote for this. The amount of new people joining and either creating lacking writeups or constantly spamming "im hosting customs wats ur gt?" in the shoutbox is becoming increasingly excessive.

Custom Games, you say?
Let's talk about how you can join one of those custom lobbies first. There are a couple different ways to begin down that road, but the quickest is by pressing "Join a Lobby" on the forums page.

In Upcoming View, you can find a long list of custom lobbies along with their relevant information.

The green bar represents a host rating, the sum of both positive and negative feedback earned through hosting. NOTE: The post ratings system is not fully functional and is still being built.

Yo! I know people don't enjoy reading lengthy posts, so I removed some semantics and made this more straight to the point. I threw in some helpful links as well because I'm a cool guy.

This was more meant to be a brief guide to joining and creating customs, so I tried to avoid going into detail about lobby format. Having said that, a comprehensive lobby format thread should probably be a thing.

Thanks, JiM.

Ahh, that's a great idea. I'll run it over with the people that can actually do that.

Sorry for getting back with you guys so late.
