Well, you can probably guess what minigame-infection combo I'm speaking of from the title... Fat Kid. I'm still trying to make up my mind about this game, but I never did play the Halo 3 or Reach versions. Lately I've been particularly interested in remaking it- oh no! (Don't worry, I will only use it for private games ;)).
The one feeling I've seen the majority of people in this community have towards it is
disdain. Don't worry, this is just the lobby hosts I've evaluated and keep in mind I joined this website recently. The entire point this thread was created was to ask you, the community, a question: Do you like any versions of Fat Kid, and why do you think there's some dislike towards it? Don't worry, I'm not hating on you for disliking it if you do and I'm also not assuming all of you dislike it :)

I have observed that
some of you think the Halo 3 version was OK and I agree. I also believe the Halo: Reach version was.. less than stellar, to understate it a bit. The Halo 4 versions I encountered less than suit my needs for multiple reasons, which is why I'm making my own for private use as mentioned earlier.

I expect most of you are thinking,
how can one man say so much about one thing? Good question ;)
Please respond with your thoughts and I look forward to getting killed by you constantly playing with you in some customs! :D

There's a lot I can throw at Fat Kid but I'll list my three biggest reasons. For one, it was a simple concept among all the complex minigames that were already out there. Next, it includes the action-packed thrill of being fucked over as a non-alpha zombie constantly to the point where you would rather pluck your pubic hair out one-by-one. Lastly, its one of the only things that little children, who still have their balls all the way up their esophagus, only request and to the point where booting them is the only option.

It's a simple, unoriginal and dulled out game that's just unfun.

These are the two best sentences I've read today.

I can definitely see why you would think so it given your reasons. I would like it better if the non-alphas had traits close to more balanced infection games. I have never hosted a lobby, but booting them is the right choice if they're going to idiotically and/or squeakily request it over and over. I think it's good to have something simple mixed in with the complex, but if the simple becomes the majority of what you do instead of the complex, then it's annoying and unfun.

I heard PREY_Fat Kid was pretty good.

Interesting idea.. It probably won't play well with the map, though. ;)

EDIT: Forgive my inability to properly quote.

I think Halo 3 Fat Kid is acceptable, because that was all you had in Halo 3 besides Jenga and Garbage Man.

EDIT: But Halo: Reach and Halo 4 Fat Kid needs to die in a hole full of pig diarrhea.

I agree with your statement about Reach and 4 versions, but particularly Reach. Did the person who remade it in Reach really think it was a good idea to have all zombies have fat traits and DMRs that kill you in 2 bodyshots? At least, that's the only Reach version I saw.

So many strong comments here. Fat Kid was fun in Halo 3 when you were younger. In hindsight I had a very bad test in infection/mingames back then but I still think that it was quite a memorable gametype. Perhaps if the gametype was a little more balanced towards normally infected some of the opinions here would be different but alas, that's not the case.

I believe that Fat Kid CAN be remade into an acceptable gametype. I always preferred the "One life" version of fat kid for, well...

...it includes the action-packed thrill of being fucked over as a non-alpha zombie constantly to the point where you would rather pluck your pubic hair out one-by-one...

I believe it can be redone into a popular gametype, but it would need some refreshing and some twists.

1) No super fast Olympian "bravo" zombie
2) Nicer looking levels
3) New/revamped obstacles

I never had much of an issue with Fat Kid in Halo 3. I was down to playing it if my friends wanted, though I would never seek to play it myself. There was one custom map in Halo 3 that I hated above all else, that freaking Sky Castle. Sure it was fun for the first couple of times, but people kept choosing it over and over and over and over again, and it made my blood boil to the point that whenever that squeaky 5 year old c*** would scream "CHOOSE SKY CASTLE!" through his mic, I wanted to take him into a corner and punch him in the guts for 20 minutes

And that map also got remade for Reach and 4 like day one. Loathed it as much on those games as well.

Why are you guys talking about a dull boring and stupid minigame when you could be doing something else?

A) We're keeping the thread on topic.
B) It's a cult classic. Impossible odds where overwhelming odds will eventually conquer everyone.
C) For nostalgia purposes.

It's completely possible for Fat Kid to be remade into a gametype/map that's actually balanced for both the humans and especially the zombies. However creating a gametype that would bring both nostalgia and balance to this gametype is quite difficult. Think 5 levels of Terror from Halo Reach, it's somewhat nostalgic but it also brings balance to the gametype.
