This is it! The sign-ups are closed, and the matchups have been made. This post marks the official beginning of the HaloCustoms 1v1 Competition. Welcome!

Sign-ups are now Closed
Great. Right. So it's begun. I, uh... now what? Good question, Random Gamer 07 (literally a random name I just pulled out), and hopefully we have an answer to that!

*Tedium flicks through some papers, finds the right one, and nods*

Mmhm. Okay, looks like we do. Here's a guide to everything you need to know about the coming week.

1. Finding Your Opponent
Now that the tournament has begun, it's time for the fighting to take place! Over the next week, you'll be given a chance to organize, play, and finish the fight between you and your opponent. Who is your opponent? How do you get in contact with them to play your match?

Go to the brackets and see how everyone's been matched up. Somewhere on there, you'll find your name. Next to yours, you'll find your opponent's. Now, going to the match-up threads, you'll see a list of threads for everyone's matchings. There will be a lot, as there are plenty of participants, so you'll need to do a bit of searching. Alternatively, you should have a tagging notification on the top right of the website - that will include a link to the match-up thread.

Once you've found your match-up thread, it's up to you and your opponent to organize a time to play your match. We've tried our best to match up players from similar timezones, so it should be easy. However, we cannot guarantee this. Make sure you know your opponent's timezone, so that you can arrange the correct time. The last thing you want is to show up at 3:00pm, when it's only 1:00pm in you're opponent's timezone. Communication is key :)

2. Fighting Your Opponent
Okay, so now you've found your opponent, and you've both agreed on a time to play your match. Hopefully, you have not run into any problems, and you're ready to go. Next, make sure you've downloaded the current map, Sovereign, as well as the Unity 1v1 Slayer gametype. Now, simply meet up with your opponent, and you're ready to go! Remember though, it's Best of 3. A single win doesn't count - you need to win twice out of three games in order to be the real winner.

3. Seal the Deal
Now that you're match has finished, there is a clear victor. Go on back to your match-up thread, and post the winner. The more detail, the better, as it makes it easier for us to verify the legitimacy of your claim. Things to include might be scores, who won which rounds, when the game was played, etc. However, these are optional. Only one piece of information is required: Who has won? If both players agree, then the winner will be finalized. Then, all that's left will be waiting for the next match, the Friday after.

4. Weekly Top Ten
Okay, the match is over, and you may have won, or you may have lost. However, if you want to spice up your life, you can submit your clip to the weekly Top Ten. This will give you a chance at obtaining some extra prizes on the side. This includes trophies, custom titles, and being featured on the Weekly Top Ten video released by TheHaloNetwork every Wednesday. The deadline for these clips will be the same as the Round: Submit them before the next round begins, and you'll have yourself a shot at winning some sweet, sweet prestige.

TL;DR
  • Look for a notification linking you to a match-up thread
  • Make sure you know your opponent's timezone, and arrange a time to fight.
  • Make sure you've downloaded the current map, Sovereign, as well as the Unity 1v1 Slayer gametype
  • Matches are Best of 3
  • Post who has won in response to your match-up thread
  • Submit your clips to the weekly Top Ten for extra rewards
If you have any further questions, feel free to voice them in our Questions and Queries thread.

Good luck, everyone!

Due to the BYE system, how is the double elimination going to work? Just curious...

Edit: Never mind saw the second bracket.
