Deals Deals with Gold: May 31st

Looks like we're in for another dry spell folks! This week's deals were released a little later than usual, so I didn't have time to get them out to you yesterday as planned. As it happens though, you're not missing much.

So yes, Grand Theft Auto V and Battleborn are both 35% Off on Xbox One. However those interested in the former likely already own it by now and those interested in the latter are probably eyeing up or even playing Overwatch instead.

The only thing I can honestly recommend this week is Battlefield Hardline Getaway at 100% off. As well... it's free. This...

Event Meet Your Maker: BTB Forge Contest

  • 4,135
  • 33

Hello ladies and gentle-forgers, and welcome to the fourth iteration of the Meet Your Maker forge contest! Halo 5 introduced an incredible new suite of game mechanics, as well as the most powerful Forge in Halo history. With most players now well versed in both the gameplay and the new systems, we felt that it was time to put your skills to the test! MYM is back and bigger than ever, with judges from 3 different websites and partnerships with many more.

Reflecting this growth in scope the contest has taken on, you the forgers are tasked with tackling the largest-scale arena mode that Halo has to offer: Big Team Battle. That's right, the maps that we are looking for will be designed for full-scale, 8 vs. 8 player combat! This is an opportunity to explore the full suite of sandbox options available in Halo 5, as well as to really push the new forge to its limits. Of course, there's more to making a great BTB map that...

Greetings one and all, for it is that slightly overdue time to cover this week's Deals with Gold!

There is quite a lot on offer this week on both systems making it quite difficult to make a fair recommendation.

Over on Xbox One there seems to be a focus on indie titles. The best value of which is OlliOlli, a hard as nails 2D arcade skateboarding game at 80% off. I've played it on PC and it's pretty fun.

Over on Xbox 360 is what Microsoft is branding the "Super Sale". There is a selection backwards compatible titles on offer as well as other popular titles. I mark content that is backwards compatible with :awesome: and titles that have been confirmed to become backwards compatible but are not yet available will be marked with a humble :doge:.

As per the usual, all of this week's deals for both systems can be found below...

Cool Happy Towel Day 2016!

The HaloCustoms staff would like to wish all of you hoopy froods out there a most magnificent Towel Day! Every year on May 25th (Earth calendar), interstellar hitchhikers such as ourselves take some time out of our day to appreciate the wondrous invention that is the towel. If you are new to the art of towelistry, or just looking for a refresher, here are some common uses for what is about the most massively useful thing one can have:

So how does one go about celebrating this occasion? First and foremost: ALWAYS KNOW...

News Halo 5 Forge is Coming to Windows 10!

  • 1,406
  • 22

You most definitely did not read that wrong because I thought I did at first! Halo 5: Guardians Forge is coming to Windows 10 PCs later this year! The forge team at 343 Industries has, once again, dropped the mic to go above and beyond again to grace our PCs with the glory that is Forge - Halo 5: Guardians Edition for Windows 10 PCs. Not only will Forge - Halo 5: Guardians Edition include forge but on top of that we're receiving the FULL custom games experience with all arena maps and gametypes included (however you can only invite players from your friends list). Did I forget to mention that its free?

This is huge for avid forgers and PC gamers alike. What is everybody's take on this? Does anyone else have a gaming PC standing by, ready to take on the bull that is Forge - Halo 5: Guardians Edition by the horns? Are you considering getting (adderrson and I would recommend building one ;)) a gaming PC now...

An interesting week is upon us once more for shooter fans.

Over on Xbox One this week Just Cause 3 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt can both be picked up for 50% Off. Both of which being AAA titles from the end of last year that you may not have gotten around to playing yet. It's also worth noting that Battlefield 4 Final Stand is free this week to add to your Battlefield DLC collection.

On Xbox 360 an exciting turn of events has occurred...

All good things must come to an end. Compared to the last 2 weeks of sale items, it's truly slim pickings. :p

On Xbox One the highlight here is Elite Dangerous Standard Edition at 50% off. From what I hear it's one of the best 'space combat' games out there right now. It's known for being a stellar VR game on PC, but there's no reason it can't be an enjoyable experience on the Xbox One also.

Over on Xbox 360, this week's sale is looking a bit fishy... My recommendation lies simply with the GRID 2 All-In Pack at 50% off. This is certainly a situational recommendation however. If you've been playing Grid 2 recently to your own enjoyment via Games with Gold, buy this to make it the...

If you thought last week was pretty good, it 'ain't got a patch on this week's sale.

With discounts as high as 100% off and a selection of Halo titles on sale, what more could you ask for. Saying that however, unfortunately Halo Wars isn't on sale. :(

On Xbox One the highlight of this weeks offerings is certainly the two items of DLC that are 100% off this week. The Battlefield 4 Dragon’s Teeth and Battlefield Hardline Robbery expansions are completely free this week. EA Access members can also get Battlefield Hardline Premium this week, absolutely free!

Spring Foward: April 2016 Recap

Oh has the time certainly flown by this April, and so have all the happenings on HaloCustoms. Instead of posting a recap for each individual event, we're going to end the month of April on HaloCustoms with a bang! Join us on this text-based ride as we recap all of the main events and announcements that took place this past April!
Note: Keep your hands inside the thread at all times!

Every year on HaloCustoms, we always do something silly on April 1st, whether it be rainbow colored names, upside-down text or even an experience that rendered HaloCustoms funny, yet extremely difficult to use (sorry about that!). Last year we've started a tradition to host a contest...

Quiz time. What's ((632952/ 657)*25)-4084.9315069? If you're not too partial to math like myself then I'll just tell you.

So, can you guess what this seemingly random number refers to? HaloCustoms has officially reached 20,000 members! To celebrate this milestone, were hosting a raffle for a Halo 5: Guardians: 9 Gold REQ Packs - Xbox One Digital Code. How do you enter? Easy. All you have to do is create a post in this thread describing your favorite experience with HaloCustoms! This could be that awesome killtacular you earned during an official lobby, or even just a humorous moment in the shoutbox. Anything goes! Just put some effort into it.

I'll lock this thread and...

Huzzah, finally a week of content on sale that isn't complete and utter tripe. :p

Over on Xbox One the highlights this week are Alien: Isolation at 60% off and Assassin’s Creed Syndicate at 45%. The former is certainly the better deal here and that game is also to a much higher critical acclaim but in all honesty, it could be "2 Spoopy 4 U". So rather than a single recommendation this week, feel free to pick your poison.

On Xbox 360 this week my recommendation rests on the shoulders of Stalking Simulator 2007...

News Filesharing is live!

  • 407

Long ago, the forge community lived in peace. Then, everything changed when the Master Chief Collection attacked. Only the fileshare, master of content sharing, could stop them, but when the community needed it most, it vanished. ~100 days passed and we discovered the new fileshare... Yes, you heard right. Our beloved online fileshare is live on Halo Waypoint!

To view the filebrowser, visit Halo Waypoint and click your gamertag in the top right corner; this will bring up a drop down box. From that list, click on the "FILE BROWSER" option and voila, you're there! You can view any of your saved screenshots, videos, map variants, or game variants from this screen. To top it off, you can also browse the most downloaded files and view your bookmarks.

Now, this means good things for HaloCustoms! Remember when you found...

Getting a feeling of Deja Vu? Well you're not the only one. I hate to say it but once again but there's not much to shout about this week.

No point mentioning anything on Xbox 360 this week as there's no 'Back Compat' content on sale and frankly, I've made the joke about Farming Simulator 15 already in the past.

Over on Xbox One, Destiny's "The Taken King" expansion is a whopping* 25% off. The only good deal in my opinion is Borderlands: The Handsome Collection at 60% off. The problem here being that this particular game has...

Event HaloCustoms Saves the World

HaloCustoms vs the World? Guess again! This time we're teaming up to save the world from Covenant and Promethean alien baddies! If you haven't heard, the Warzone Firefight beta is live now until Tuesday, April 19th! As with every new mode, we're taking this opportunity to team up with the community in this limited time beta! The new mode only supports up to 8 players so we're spreading out into multiple lobbies to accommodate for the demand. We'll be streaming this event live on our official Twitch channel along with recording the events to mash together in a recap video on our new official YouTube channel! So come on down this weekend, bring your REQs (and please don't sell your Prophet's Banes... adderrson) and let's...

A day late again? Well I assure you that you won't be a dollar short this week.

Once again we are faced with disappointment as the lacklustre savings persist. On Xbox 360 this week there's no Back Compat content on sale and not really anything that screams "BUY ME", unless you are a huge fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles of course. :p

All joking aside though, if you are of the gambling sort and fancy putting on your tin foil hat this week, I guess I could recommend Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix at 75% off. Due to being a cult icon and requiring little resources to run, it's an ideal candidate for future Backwards Compatibility support.

Over on Xbox One we are simply faced with crushed dreams...

News Warzone Firefight is upon us!

  • 406
  • 0

Over the last month, fans of Halo 5 have been teased with constant previews of the upcoming content drop for Summer - Warzone Firefight. Yesterday, 343 Industries continued the trend with a live stream of a full match of the mode, showcasing both the new and familiar features to come. In addition, they dropped a friendly reminder that the beta for Warzone Firefight will be available to the public etween April 14 - 19! If you missed the stream yesterday, you can still watch the broadcast on the Halo Twitch channel.

If you're unfamiliar with the term, Firefight is a mode in which up to four players cooperate in a battle against several waves of attackers. This mode in previous iterations allowed them to battle in environments based on campaign missions, on foot or in vehicles, and against...

Srs Bzns Announcing the HaloCustoms Official YouTube Channel!

  • 1,253

You read that bit right, we finally have our own YouTube channel! A few of you observant users may have noticed that little YouTube button that's been sitting at the bottom of the site for about a month now... or maybe not. During that time, we've been preparing and constructing the channel while also preparing ourselves (thanks for the Elgato by the way, Psychoduck) and finding time to do so in between our rather busy lives as of late.

Some of you may be asking yourselves "But why, uncle JiM, did HaloCustoms go ahead and started its own channel?" Well sit down, Bobbeh, and I'll let you in on a small tale. Once upon a time in the land of YouTube, there once was a noble YouTube channel called 'The Halo Forge Epidemic' or 'THFE' that was also partnered with the noble HaloCustoms website since the official launch of the site on January 9, 2013. The noble channel...

So then... you thought that last weeks offerings were lacklustre? Well, you ain't seen nothing yet!

It's seriously slim pickings this week. On the Xbox 360 side of things there are only 4 items on sale, none of which are backwards compatible and one of the 4 sale items used to be a free download. Ouch.

Things are not much better on Xbox One either and the only thing I can honestly recommend is the Complete Forza Horizon 2 Add-Ons Collection at 60% off which contains every last piece of content ever released for the game (there's quite a lot). If you're a race fan and only have base game and enjoyed playing Horizon 2. I'd highly recommend this offer. For everyone else however, download...

Event 2th Annual Polished Turd Forge-A-Thon

Wasn't I supposed to give more information on this a week or two ago... Anywho, Happy April Fools everybody. If you're reading this on the day of posting you might notice everything looking a bit funky, but that's all the fun of the fair.

In case you wasn't with us a year ago, the PT-Forge-A-Thon is a celebration of terrible map forging tropes and satirical take on forges past, a "my fworst map" if you will. Last year members had just the day to lovingly churn out their disastrous concoction. And those maps were then playtested (if you can even call it that) the following weekend. You can check out the original event and recap by following the highlighted linkydinks.

But wait, don't the rules of the forge-a-thon state that all maps have to be forged on April Fools...

In the aftermath of the Spring Sale, this week's deals are in a word; unremarkable.

The highlight of the deals this week is Evolve at 67% off. But realistically seeing as it's very internet dependent with a very low population of players, I can't honestly recommend it to anyone. Here's hoping it will be available via Games with Gold in the coming months.

On the Xbox 360 I have no recommendations this week as there are no Backwards Compatible titles, or even ones confirmed to be supported in the future. As per the usual though, all of this week's deals for both systems can be found below...
