Not so long ago, we proposed to you the beginning of a bright new future of HaloCustoms with exclusive Xbox sign in. You can read more about this change here.

For those of you that aren't currently signed in and are an existing member of HaloCustoms, here's a quick reminder/tutorial on how to easily migrate your legacy account:

Step 1: Select the option to sign in with Xbox Live. An example of this button as it currently stands can be found below (there will also be a replacement for the current Login/Sign Up options on the top bar if this change goes ahead).


Step 2: Select the option to "Associate Existing Account" and simply log into HC with your existing legacy username and password as demonstrated below;

Btw I used a fake password for this screenshot, "superlongfakepassword" in case you're curious.

If you haven't joined the HC community yet, it's now quicker an easier to create a user account. All you need to do is sign in via Xbox Live and pick an available username on the "Create New Account" tab. It's as simple as that! :)

Keeping on the subject of our initial roll-out of Xbox integration, we've updated the friends list on the Xbox tab. You can find this at the top right of the page.


Not only can you see what friends are currently online or in a party, you can easily distinguish which of your Xbox friends also use HaloCustoms by the blue HC button to the right of their Gamertag (demonstrated above). Clicking on this also gives you easy access to that user's HC profile page. Pretty nifty, huh?

In the future we plan to expand this further with what we're calling Xbox Live Quick...
Recently, a particularly dark image released a comprehensive guide on setting forge maps up for matchmaking integration in Halo 5. From spawn placement, to weapon timers, the guide covers all of the nitty-gritty details requires to fine-tune maps to matchmaking standards.

black picture also teamed up with his fellow members of Creative Force to bring updated versions of Basin and Boulevard (originally created by 343 Industries and alex quit respectively) to the big team battle playlist.

I sat down with Mr. Picture as well as Randy 355 and MythicFritz (the new custodians of Basin and Boulevard) to chat about all three of these recent projects.

Psychoduck: Hello, and thanks for joining us. Can you tell us a bit about the process of compiling this guide? Where did you gather information from? How long did it take?

Black Picture: Hey thanks for having us! I started gathering information for the guide because of Orion II, I got alot of useful requirements for the map in the development, also I have been going through the Dev maps on disc and dissecting them. To be honest on the time I'm not quite sure but it did take some time to cross reference maps.

Duck: While compiling the guide, did you stumble across any tidbits of information that surprised you? Did you find any strange inconsistencies on the dev maps you were pulling from?

Black Picture: Any information that is surprising to me? Well that is a hard one to answer because I found majority of this interesting. I will say the spawn zones and the Cameras was interesting to learn. The other thing I will say is in one of the dev breakout map one of the strong hold had weapon pad properties, did...

A few weeks ago on September 27th, the latest iteration of the Forza Horizon series launched worldwide on both Xbox One and Windows 10. Complete with cross-platform multiplayer. Following in the footsteps of the GTA Crew back on 360 and the Minecraft server; Forza Horizon 3 is the next non-Halo title to have an official HC presence.


"But why a car game?", I hear many of you cry... Well it just so happens that this particular car game lets you race Warthogs across the Outback and beyond in a digital representation of Australia. Frankly, this really is as fun as it sounds.

After unlocking and upgrading your third festival site in the game, you gain access to a feature called "Clubs". On the surface these look to operate like many other clan-esque systems out there like the Halo 5 Spartan Company, for example.

Some of the benefits to joining the car club are as follows:

  • Global Club vs Club rankings based upon combined banked XP from all members.
  • An inter-club weekly leaderboard for friendly competition.
  • The Club works like an extended friends list, meaning HC members will appear in your game more frequently as Drivatars and allows you to seamlessly share your Exhibitions, Championships and Bucket List Challenges. You can even employ club members to your lineup!
  • Rising through the Club Tiers each week gives players monetary rewards (Free Credits).
Etc. Etc.


Joining our proposed Domination of the Outback is simple. Once you've unlocked "Clubs" in-game, go to the Club tab in the pause menu and select the option to join a club. From here you can find us by searching for the club's name "HaloCustoms" or it's tag "-HC-". At the time of writing we currently have 10 members and are...

Update: I'm proud to announce that after the week-long poll, 81.8% of those that voted to share our ongoing vision for the future of HaloCustoms. I'll keep you posted on when these changes will take place along with a fairly substantial site update which is on track for next week.

For those enquiring about the inner workings of this new integration, I wanted to mention that we have been working on this functionality behind the scenes since November 2015 along with a roadmap of changes to the site which we hope you'll enjoy.

All the "Xbox" related features available now and into the future have been built from the ground up, specifically for HaloCustoms. This functionality is very much myself and TACTICS' digital baby and we're both very proud of what we have achieved and plan to in the future. For those simply interested in the API level of things we simply can't disclose anything of that nature due to a non-disclosure agreement (NDA).

These are exciting times and can't wait to share more with you on what we have planned for HC in the coming weeks and months.

Last Friday, Halo 5's Big Team Battle playlist got a refresh. All 12 of the maps already in the playlist saw updates of varying sizes and four new Forge maps were added. Three of these maps were submissions to the recent Meet Your Maker contest hosted here with help from our friends at,, and several YouTube outlets.

This update was a huge undertaking for 343's multiplayer team as well as the group of community members who helped make it a reality and was arguably the largest jump forward within a single matchmaking playlist since Halo 5's launch last fall.

Hopefully the playlist will be to your liking with the wide variety of maps on offer, from big to small; symmetrical to asymmetrical; modern to classic. In addition to great maps, new and old, you'll also find a few new toys throughout the playlist including the Tactical Magnum, Wicked Grasp, and Wasp.

Staff Changes
In the past month and a half since our last site update, some of you may have noticed a few changes have taken place behind-the-scenes and to the face of HaloCustoms. To begin, our very own British Rockband rockstar, adderrson has recently been pushed through the fruit transformation machine and has moved up to the ranks of site admin to assist us in technical upgrades to the site (more on that later). In sadder news, our favorite Irishman Potato, SOLIDSNAKEee has left the ranks of staff and became a blueberry once more. He has understandably left on his own terms for personal reasons, but do not fret! He is still very much active and you can probably speak to him in the shoutbox at this moment. As with many departures, we have a new arrival to the staff team! Many of you may know him after winning the Best Forge Map of All Time Awards* of 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 with his map, Stigma. Srs Bzns Back in Black
On a cold winter's evening in late 2012, a group of web developers, community leaders, and all-around classy gentlemen huddled in front of the proverbial fireplace and discussed plans to give Halo's quirky and creative Forge and Custom Games community a new home.

At the heart of this community-driven vision was a system designed to streamline the process for those wishing to engage with another on the virtual battlefield in order to enjoy the sorts of experiences that simply can't be found in matchmaking hoppers. From wacky mini games to methodical map testing, we sought to provide a platform to allow visitors to maximize the fun they could have in Halo games.

This admittedly simple system proved to be incredibly successful in achieving its prime directive: getting out of the way and connecting this community to fun Halo experiences. Even with Halo 4's waning population, this system reached an impressive level of popularity.

Last summer, we decided to swap this system out in favor of a new one and site updates rendered this change irreversible. The new system we implemented seemed great on paper, but ultimately proved to be overcomplicated and admittedly buggy. Over the last few weeks, adderrson and myself set out to bring back the "OG" Custom Games system in all its former glory, and then some.

Today, it is our pleasure to announce that this new (old) system is ready for public use! We're still working on some tweaks and additions, but the core functionality is here. We hope you're as excited as we are. Read on below for some details on some of this system's features.

With the Meet Your Maker Forge Contest in full swing, Big Team Battle is at the forefront of the minds of many. For a lot of us, BTB means enjoying varied gameplay experiences on big maps with a larger team at our backs. Our friends at are here to remind us that BTB has a fierce competitive side as well.
