FORE! Grab your golf clubs, put on your tweed jacket and suade shoes with those little spikes on the bottom. It's off to the golf course for another round of the HaloCustoms weekly roundup.

The first hole of the front 9 is a Par 4 with a water hazard and cunningly placed man cannons that if you're not careful can set you back a couple of strokes. That's right, all the golfing jargon means the HaloCustoms Par for the Course Battle Golf Forging contest is back. This time it's better than ever, thanks to our wonderful admin Psychoduck. He's been in touch with the guys over at 343 Industries and managed to wrangle us up some decent prizes!

This event was announced a while back but put on hold due to some issues with the contest but those have now been resolved and we're ready to have another swing at it. There were some cool maps submitted to the previous iteration of the competition, I hope that the rest of the maps submitted are up to the same standard. Join in and submit your amazing maps and make our judges work as hard as possible!

To read more about the contest and find out how to enter, visit our news thread for all the contest info including rules, resources and judging information.

Halo Wars 2 is still going strong, and it will be receiving another balance patch in the near future to buff and nerf units that have changed in effectiveness since the latest two DLC leaders (Kinsano and Colony) were added, to keep the game in perfect balance within it's rock-paper-scissors three-way balancing concept. When this patch goes live, it will be a tiny update with the rest happening behind the scenes, so there won't be any huge files for...

Put your feet up, crack open your favourite beverage and some of your favourite snacks and come have a gander at our weekly update.

First up, the lovable Tom French has been made the Lead Multiplayer Design Director at 343i. Tom has been one of the driving forces behind some of the amazing Forge updates that we've been seeing over the past months, giving forgers tools and objects to make all the awe-inspiring maps that we've been seeing. As his new job states he'll be responsible for designing the gameplay for Halo 5's Multiplayer, and one can assume he'll also be in that role for any future games developed by 343i (Halo 6 anyone?). Considering the things Tom has done for forge, I'm sure we can expect great things from him. Be sure to give him a warm welcome and send him all your constructive feedback, he's been quite open with us on twitter in the past, let's not ruin that by spamming him with dumb tweets.

Who doesn't love a good old fashioned game of Big Team Battle in Halo 5? We're all in luck as 343i have released an update to the playlist adding in new maps and bringing in the Assault gametype into the big team camp. Grab 7 friends (or randoms) and join in the carnage against the opposing team. In total 5 new maps were added, replacing some of the old maps in the playlist. To be honest some of the old maps were pretty awful... (*cough* Antifreeze *cough*). The five new maps were created with this specific update in mind and are listed below with links to bookmark them for your viewing and gaming pleasure.

SOUND THE ALARMS!
The Big Team Battle playlist in Halo 5: Guardians received a big update today! This update adds five new community-created forge maps to the playlist, adds the Assault gametype (finally!), revamps one existing map, and game modes have been tweaked. To celebrate, Squally DaBeanz put together a BTB update trailer for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy!

We hope to see you guys in BTB soon! ;)
Issues with signing in on HaloCustoms with custom gamerpics on Xbox Live have been resolved! :)

If any users encounter issues signing in or registering on HaloCustoms, we ask you to use the Contact Us form and submit a ticket to let us know that you're having issues.

As most of you surely know, we use Xbox Live accounts to seamlessly sign into HaloCustoms. While we are very happy with this system, it does lead to the occasional issue of a third-party change being made which negatively affects users' ability to log in on our website. One such change, the addition of the custom gamerpic feature on Xbox, is currently causing such an issue.

Users who have created a custom gamerpic appear to unable to sign into HaloCustoms at the moment. If you'd like to sign in, please avoid the use of this feature for the time being. If you already have a custom gamerpic but are still signed in to this site, you should be safe provided you remain signed in. We are aware of the issue and hope to have it resolved soon™.

Thanks for your understanding, and apologies for the inconvenience.

Bleep bloop, me again.

The Lekgolo - or Hunter - is one of the more formidable adversaries in the Halo universe and now you'll be able to have a full army of them in Halo Wars 2, lead by a deadly new leader: Colony, as well as a varitey of new units to complement the playstyle of their leader. These guys are the some of the tankiest units in the Halo Wars game, with units able to soak up massive damage and deal out just as much in return if you're not careful.

Here's a short summary of some of the new units and abilities
  • Hunter Captain - Hero unit with heavy armour and health draining siphon beam and a Taunt ability to redirect enemy fire
  • Skitterers - Lekgolo scout turrets that can attach to other units to provide additional health and firepower
  • Goliaths - Two hunters combined into one to create a massive tank style unit that has powerful melee attacks designed to take down anything in it's way
  • Living Barrier - Leader Power: Tank traps/area denial made from Lekgolo worms can provide intel to your team about enemy movement
  • Vehicle Symbiotes - Leader Power: Powering up vehicles with Lekgolo worms

Following the World Championship Series finals last month, the 343i sandbox team began a mission to collect and document as much player feedback as possible on the state of the Halo 5 weapon balance and have come up with some possible solutions to address any balance issues or concerns players may have had. They spent time collecting information from top players around the world and have taken all their feedback into...

Evening ladies, gentlemen and those of an alternative nature. I invite you to sit down and read this wonderful update.

The Popular Web Series Red vs Blue has been going on for over 20 years and 14 seasons, and season 15 has just started with a whole new story line featuring everyone's favourite machinimated misfits. The Reds and Blues and they've come full circle back to the box canyon of Blood Gulch (again). Expect hi-jinks, hilarity and a whole lot of immature jokes. Watch it a week early on the Roosterteeth website with their First subscription, or wait a week and watch it on YouTube. Watch the trailer here:

343i Interviewed their UX Design Lead Vincent Hui on their website recently, giving us a new insight into what it takes to design and develop the interactive menus and player HUD in the game, how to make a good user experience and keep all of the legions of Halo players happy. Here are a couple of questions that might be of interest:

Q: How do you think about the user experience for a professional or aspiring pro Halo player vs. the day to day “casual” players that enjoy Warzone or Action Sack?

VH: Everyone can agree that they just want to have fun playing Halo. What’s fun for everyone is unique though so understanding where fun overlaps and where it’s in conflict is really important. To complicate things, the same user can be both an aspiring pro and casual player in the same session – you may grind FFA to earn Champion, and then play Action Sack with your friends just to unwind. As players, you shouldn’t really worry about these things. It’s our responsibility to make sure that you all have plenty of ways to experience Halo the way you want to even if you change your mind. Challenging, but that’s fun for me.

Q: With a such a diverse game community and a game itself that offers so many modes...

Evening everyone, it's that time again where we round up the weekly Halo news and bundle it up in text and image form for your occular receptors to enjoy.

APRIL FOOLS

Ok, got that one out the way.

HCS World Finals was last week and if you don't want spoilers, skip this section!

It was the Green Wall Optic Gaming who took the crown, beating a very strong Team EnVyus in a 4-0 series to take home $500,000. EnVyus were looking strong having a good lead in the first three games, but the Green Wall pushed back hard to take each game from behind (stop sniggering in the back!). Over the course of the entire event, Optic only managed to drop 2 games, which is an impressive feat to say the least. It was a well attended event even with attempts for certain people to make it seem otherwise. It could have probably been held in a nicer place (EU finals were in Wembley Stadium of all places!) but it seems there were possibly some issues with trying to get a good location to host, but hopefully next time they'll be bigger, better and bolder.

See the full event results below:

If you fancy having a crack at Halo Competitive yourself, get your butt down to HCS Daytona, sponsored by UMG where there will be open 4v4 and FFA tournaments with prize pools of $75,000 and $5,000. It's being held in the Ocean Arena in Daytona Beach, Florida.

The summer and fall Pro League Circuits are also being finalised so keep your ears to the skies and look out for the full roadmap on http://Halo.gg in the coming weeks.

For an actual April Fools joke, the US Marines uploaded the following onto their instagram:
