News HC Weekly Update 7/7/15

Happy Bungie Day everyone! Yes, today is the day that we all designate as a very special Halo day and now Destiny Day (Is that a thing? I feel like that isn't a thing and needs to be a thing). However before we jump into all those goodies, lets talk Halo shall we?

Halo time with Snack

That title needs work but I'm open to suggestions. Moving on to this weeks Halo Bulletin, Jay Frechette shows us what we can expect from the limited and collectors edition's of Halo 5: Guardians (Bonus fact! They're not cheap!). Fair warning, you may also come across certain spoilers during this Bulletin update. If you're looking to watch the Halo bulletin but avoid spoilers, then simply avoid 3:56 to 4:06 as those brief 10 seconds contain some pretty big spoilers.

This weeks Canon Fodder contains some interesting facts about the Scarab, the communities favourite armour types (can i haz rec0n!!?!1!?) as well as some details for the San Diego Comic Con which will be taking place on Friday July 10, 2015 10:15am - 11:15am. So stay tuned for that. Be sure to give it a read by clicking right here.

Here's another fun fact for you guys. Did you know that the Jackals that you've so happily been slaying for the past few years actually have a hell of a punch? Well... I say punch... they normally just maul people to death or claw them but I'm getting ahead of myself. While looking at some Warzone footage, provided by ReadyUpLive, I discovered that those pesky little snipers can actually melee the player now. It's very brief but take a look down below.

Just another problem you'll have to overcome in your legendary playthroughs. On a slightly different note, if you've been wondering how to play the Halo Online free to play game then you'll be glad to know that someone provided the shoutbox with a link last night that shows just how you can do, exactly that.

Previously on Red vs Blue...
as Felix corners General Doyle on a cliff face, the General makes a bold move and attempts to throw the artifact off the cliff however, this fails and Felix manages to grab the artifact just as our group of Reds and Blues find their way back to Doyle. Locus arrives in Falcon gunship and open fires while Felix hops on board leaving with the artifact.

After Carolina fell, Church watched over her knowing that she was gonna have a few words about the incident. That being said, our crazy doctor says that she'll make a fall recover but that might now cover rift that this could cause on their relationship. The episode closes with Kimble calling Doyle out on how things went down on that cliff face. *Spoilers* things aren't looking good.

Feel free to watch the full episode by clicking right here.

All good things...

Sadly, it's time to say goodbye to our Minecraft server. Although we'd like to keep it up, due to the lack of intereste the server team decided that it was best if we shut it down. If you were part of the server, then you may be thinking "What about all the awesome things that we built? What about them?" Well I'm glad you asked imaginary voice. corduroyCHUCK was nice enough to set you up with a world download. It's important to note that there will be no further world generation in this version of the world. Is this the last you'll see of a HC Minecraft server? Perhaps not. Only time will tell. Until then, be sure to send the world off with a bang and share some of your favourite stories down below.

Summer Sail*
*The song has no real relevance, other than to offer an excuse to shout SALE periodically whilst scrolling through a list of mostly lukewarm special offers

Addy: It's that time of the year again for the Xbox Live Summer of Arcade Sale. There is quite selection of games/add ons discounted throughout the week for you to peruse through.

You can find the full list of discounts on this post within Major Nelson's blog (There's so many discounts that I am feeling much too idle to manually post them all here... Sorry, not sorry).

Although I'm not willing to go through every individual discount on offer, here are my recommendations;

  • Halo: The Master Chief Collection is currently 40% off for Xbox Live Gold members, in-case you want to introduce any of your friends or family to the Halo franchise (or just want to go digital for your own selfish purposes).
  • Lego Batman 3 (including all DLC) is "Holy 75% off Batman" for Gold members on Xbox One.
  • Farcry 6... I mean Farcry 4 is 60% off, this includes the base and gold versions on Xbox One as well as the Xbox 360 version (for any of you that haven't made the jump to Xbone yet).
  • Finally for all you Xbox One Preview members out there, the Games on Demand version of Mass Effect (the first one) is currently 80% off for XBL Gold members! Currently this is the most popular game in the current backwards compatibility line up and is well worth picking up for $3.99/£2.99/€3.99. If you don't have access to an Xbox 360, you can purchase the game here on the Xbox website.
Your Destiny Awaits

As I said earlier, today is Bungie day. For those of you who are new, Bungie Day is the 7th day of the 7th month. This tradition was started we back 8 years ago on 07/07/07. Normally, Bungie gives back to the community or there is some form of playdate and this year is no exception. If you've been a year one player in Destiny, then you'll receive this legendary emblem. You'll have until September 9th to claim your legendary status, after that, it'll be gone for good.

TriumphEmblem.jpg

However, glory comes with a price. In order to earn this special emblem, you must complete the Moments of Triumph. These ten feats highlight the ten orbs of the emblem. These challenges range from things as easy as reaching level 20 for the first time to as difficult as taking down Skolas in the Prison of Elders. To view your progress on these Moments of Triumph, check your profile on Bungie.net or the Destiny Companion app.

Feel free to brag about your legendary status to all the newbies you'll see later this Fall or as we normal people call it, Autumn. But that's not all, as Bungie will also be hosting the Destiny Year One Art Contest. Don't worry if you're not the best artist in the world as you can also submit videos and screenshots as well as any art piece for those of you that can craft such a piece. Prizes involve the Blacksmith shader (Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare preorder shader) for the top 50 and those of you who are in the top 7 will be granted your very own Destiny: The Taken King Collectors Edition.

For those of you that also have a Bungie.net profile, you'll also receive some new profile avatars which includes Eris, a Strange Coin and master mc douchebag...sorry I mean the Cryptarch.

There's also a brand new Destiny app called The Armory which allows you to look at all the gear in Destiny. If you don't feel like looking through every possible piece of equipment in the game then you'll be glad to know that you can also use filters to help with what you're searching for.

This weeks weekly Nightfall is Taniks with the modifiers being Arc Burn, Specialist and Lightswitch. The weekly Heroic strike is Sepiks Prime with Solar Burn, time to break out this Jellyhorns and Black Hammers. RNGesus will give me a Black Hammer one day...one day...

This week I thought I'd show you guys a fairly old video but I'm sure it needs no introduction... ok.. maybe it does. Battle of the Brick. A stop motion project that took years to complete and yet, remains extremely entertaining years later. The video itself is 27 minutes long so if you've got some time to kill, give it a watch. You won't be disappointed.

Anyway guys, that about does it for this week.
