News Halocustoms Weekly Update E3 2015

eBSQsJp.png

It's that time of year again. E3! The Christmas for gamers... in the middle of summer but you still have to wait until Christmas to get all your goodies. Yes the past few days have been quite hectic. Some people (and I'm not naming names or anything but he might be a potato) might have even taken a sick day or two just to make sure that they were able to record and document all the news as it unfolded. However, before with jump in neck deep in news, lets start off with some Halo news.

- - -

I'm going to start this week off a little differently than I normally do, due to all the E3 goodness that was unveiled yesterday, I'd like to get the other details out of the way.

Last week on Red vs Blue...
the Reds and Kimball lead an assault on Alpha site. However their assault was a failure as Chorus soldiers had actually setup an ambush which Kimball and the Reds had walked right into. Meanwhile the Blues uncover some alien secrets from Santa... yes, I said Santa. Santa talks about some temples hidden around the planet, explaining that his race used Chorus as a planet where most of their alien goodies had been hidden or stored away. However they're ambushed by Shark Face (that one guy from season 9 that used a flamethrower) and four other Chorus soldiers.

Jump forward to this weeks episode and the Carolina's bubble shield is about to fail. Emily Grey (or better known as the crazy scientist lady) has an idea. She ask Carolina to trust here and to drop the bubbleshield on her mark, she calls out some code which activates Freckles, killing the four agents. The Blues then fly out to go help and rescue General Doyle from Felix and Shark Face. While Carolina goes solo, Tucker and the others go into a cave and discover Doc! Doc hasn't been keeping well and after going a little bit crazy, we see a brief appearance of O'Malley. Meanwhile the Reds come up with a plan to help escape from the ambush set up but the Chorus soldiers.

halo5huntthetruth-1440x564_c-jpg.13663

SPOILER ALERT!
You have been warned.

This week saw the final two episodes of Huntthetruth however this week, will be the last of the series. We've been following Benjamin Giraud for some weeks and now he thinks he's got everything ready, to take down ONI. While departing from Bliss, he asks himself how much was too high a price for what ONI had done. How many lives, were too many? He comes to the same answer. Just one. Mshak. He calls Anthony, the old ODST that witnessed Chief as a child. Seeing the horrors which had been bestowed upon him. He calls him to ask a favor from him. To help take down ONI. After just a few words, he convinces him. He calls Ray and sends him the backup files. Finally, Petra checks in. Though she wouldn't admit it, she was worried. Ben tells her what he found. He then signs off but not before thanking everyone. Friends, family, followers and those lost.

The next we here of Ben, he's live on the ECB network. Some of Bens data goes missing, though its not said, it can be assumed that his data was wiped from his system. From here on out, things start falling apart. ONI had planted the data and some how knew Ben would find it through Petra. ECB checked the records and found that they were 2 months old, instead of the 40 something that would explain the Spartan-II program. He begs the interviewer to call Petroski, knowing he'll back his claims. Petroski the proceeds to deny everything. Instead saying he was sent undercover, by ONI, to help protect the Chief from those slandering him. He claims he was acting the inter time. Ben proceeds to try and explain that Petroski was "compelled" by ONI to change his statement. Saying that they done this to a good man.

ECB gets some new info suggesting that the location where Ben had found the terminal, was actually a shell company owned by Sapien Sunrise. One key member of which, is called FERO. When the weapons are compared to those used to kill that which killed the Ambassador that Chief was actually trying to protect, it clears the Master Chief and frames both FERO and Ben. Ben finally demands to know where Ray is. Asking to make sure his friend was still alive and not in a black body bag, curtsy of ONI. He is then shut down and then taken into custody, however, the episode continues and we here Petra's voice. She'll carry on the torch but not for any good reason but because ONI used her, and her pride is wounded. She continues to say that Ben was sloppy but Ray sent her the backup files. She'll be smart about it. She'll do it ONI's way, the scary and dark way. She will continue, to hunt the truth.

Now we're getting to the good stuff. Waypoint had some minor updates, most notable of which was the hotfix for Halo: CE's aim assist. You can ready all about that right here. However my gaze has turned to YouTube over the past weekend to help cover all the E3 news. With 17 pages of notes but with that being said, I'm likely to miss a thing or two. Or ten. What? These things happen. Anyway, without any further delays, lets get to it.

First and foremost we're going to be talking about Halo first and then I'll be going through the even as it unfolded. Earlier yesterday, the Microsoft Press Conference opened up in a big way. We got our first glimpse at the Halo 5 campaign. Now although there's alot of opinions regarding Halo 5, story things have always been a key interested to me and 343 Industries didn't disappoint. The conference opened with a cinematic trailer as you can see below.

Spoiler Alert!
You have been warned.
Finished watching? Time to talk then. The demo takes place on a mission called “Battle of Sunaion” on Sanghelios (for the record, called it a year ago... just saying). We follow fireteam Osiris as they track the Master Chief. Now enough with what we already know, lets dive into what new info we've gained from this demo.
  • At 1:00 we see a Covenant Cruiser, presumably the Covenant Remnants, burning and plunging to the ocean below.
  • Ten seconds later, at 1:10, we can see the destruction that the Arbiters assault has lead to.
  • At 1:30 we get our first look at both the Artemis system and squad commands.
  • At 1:56 we see a Spirit dropship burning and being pursued by 3 Phantoms.
  • At 2:11 we finally get to see a Guardian. It's both huge and the shock wave it sends it is extremely effected and destroying things. Now if you look closely, it looks like its got a human face or atleast a skull of sorts which isn't without reason given what we've seen from the Prometheans. However its important to note that this is complete speculation.
  • 3:05 in, we see an Elite hologram baring no armour. Showing us a little bit about their race and just how physically strong their race is.
  • At we get our first look at the Promethean Crawlers teleporting in. Abit different than Halo 4's Crawlers which just phased in right in front of you.
  • 3:30 we get our first look at the Forerunner VTOL (Vertical Take Off and Landing) vehicle which is now being called the "Phaeton". After a volley from a Hydra, the Phaeton is destroyed.
  • At 3:39 we see just how we'll be able to revive our teammates and give them a second wind. I quite like this feature considering the last time we had a Spartan Team, they could die. No matter how hard I tried, Kat wouldn't die...
  • A few moments later at 3:52 we see the new Promethean class called soldiers. I'd imagine that these guys might actually be the populace of New Alexandria from Halo 4. Again, some speculation but its within reason.
  • At 3:59 we get to see how the Artemis system will help players as it shows the location of a nearby weapon cache.
  • At 4:17 we see the new blueberry gun/crossbow called the "Plasma Caster" which basically looks like it fires out bouncing plasma balls.
  • At 4:28 we hear a Promethean speak English, abit odd considering that they only screamed in our faces in Halo 4 but in strengthens my theory from before. That are there's another reason to explain this that we don't quite know yet. Also, we see Buck disconnect a turret. Now if he's AI controlled then it'll be the first time that an AI has actually thought about detaching a turret. We also see that the Plasma Caster has a charge which sticks to things and avoids the annoying bouncing weapon. I mean, who makes a gun that bounces?
  • At 3:48 we see some Soldier Captains. Looks like these guys have some bonus head decal.
  • Ten seconds later at 3:58 we here a voice claiming to be "The Warden Eternal, keeper of the Domain and her secrets." Fun fact, the Domain basically has all knowledge gathered by the Precursors and The Forerunners. However it was thought lost and destroyed during the activation of the Halo array.
  • At 5:05 we see the player try and act like Emile from Halo Reach. dat shotgun snipr doe. The Warden then activates a pretty badass hardlight/energy sword and charges Locke, basically telling him Chief had access to the Guardian but the Locke was denied that access.
  • While using the force at 5:16, the Warden pulls Locke close and then scans him like we seen in the Halo 4 live action trailer. Either that or he has some laser beams for eyes.
  • After the gameplay we're give a lot of quick action shots. At 5:20 we get a glimpse of the good doctor, Catherine Halsey. It goes by pretty fast, so here's a picture that Jesus in Malibu linked some of the shoutboxers to yesterday.
lwyVywi.jpg

  • At 5:24 we see Blue Team charging a group of Covenant. It can be assumed that this is the opening mission that Game Informer spoke of last week. If you lock carefully, you can see some debris getting sucked out the smashed window.
  • At 5:25 we see a colony of Hunter worms going down a window with some Spartans in the background. Followed by the worms entering a downed Hunter or some discarded Hunter armor.
  • Things get a little crazy at 5:31 as we see some Covenant machine/ship activates. I have no idea what this things called but it looks a hell of a lot bigger than the Scarab.
  • At 5:38 we see a few Banshees escorting a Leech. Could be part of the first mission seeing as its in space however, that's some more speculation.
  • At 5:41 we see another Guardian activate followed by Fireteam Osiris getting in some Phaetons as they try and take on the unnamed vehicle.
  • The demo closes with the Guardian fully forming and a shot of what looks to be a human colony under attack.
"But Snack?" I hear you ask, "Where's the multiplayer stuff?" Well I'm glad you asked random voice. Halo 5 will feature something no Halo game has done before, Warzone. Warzone is a huge 12vs12vsEverything, basically, it's a bigger big team battle in which you must score 1,000 points to win or destroy the enemy teams core. You'll acquire points from killing enemies, capturing control points and killing HVT's (high value targets). So here's the trailer just so you can wrap your mind around it followed by the vidoc that'll go a little more in depth than I have.

Pretty awesome right? I've heard some mixed opinions but all in all I think it looks pretty cool. In terms of balance however, the requisitions could be a pretty negative thing in terms of competitive play but we'll have to wait and see.

Bethesda

Now lets get into the other E3 info, of which there is a lot of. Now during the Bethesda games Conference, they opened with Doom. First off, let me say the game looks spectacular. I've never played a Doom game but I may just buy this one. Check out the trailer below or click here for the full gameplay demo.

As you can tell, it's pretty brutal. It's fast paced, action packed and gore filled. Twice that for the multiplayer aspect of it. Speaking of which, Doom will also have a map creator that will allow scripting of enemies and much, much more. Now feel free to go to hell. No really, go to hell. Wait a sec, I should probably say, go check out hell by clicking this link right here. It wouldn't be Doom if you couldn't go to hell.

The announcements continued as we got caught up with what the Bethesda team has been doing with Battle Cry. A steam punk, over the shoulder shooter that has a unique art style that we rarely see in games anymore. Feel free to check out the trailer by clicking here.

Think that's all? Well, you're wrong. Remember a little game called Dishonored? Well if you don't then let me refresh your memory. Dishonored was another steam punk however it took a more stealthy approach to things. Every action you made, had some form of consequence. If you didn't have the chance to play Dishonored, then don't frown as you'll have the chance to play Dishonored: The Definitive Edition and all of it's dlc's which will release this Fall while you wait for Dishonored 2 to be released. Yes, Dishonored to was also announced. Both games will be available on the Xbox One, PS4 and the PC.

Now if you're a fan of The Elder Scrolls or if you play Elder Scrolls Online, then you'll be pleased to know that Bethesda also shared some snip its of whats to come later this year. Check out the trailer below.

Oh yes, the Dark Brotherhood know and if Skyrim has taught me anything, you better sleep with one eye open.

On top of that, we'll also have access to The Elder Scrolls: Legends. A card based game that's free to play for both PC and IPad.

That was pretty much all Bethesda had to show this year but I feel like I'm forgetting something. It was on the tip of my tongue. In Vault? Outfall? Oh wait, Fallout 4! There's too many things for me to cover about Fallout 4 so just go ahead and click that video. Some of the basics involve crafting weapon and armor parts, crafting several bases (when I say bases I mean bases), your character talks with dynamic dialogue and VATS is now slow motion instead of pausing the game altogether. You also get a dog. As I said, there's too much content for me to cover here so just go ahead and watch that video. I'll still be here when you get back. Don't worry, it's totally worth it. Otherwise 190,000 people wouldn't have been watching it live!

Bonus fact, once mod support is enabled, both the Xbox One and PS4 will receive in game mod support. Yes, for the first time ever, mod support is enabled.

Before I forget, if you have an Iphone then you may want to download Fallout Shelter. A free game that's sure to be highly addicting. The best part? You don't need an internet connection to play it. So download it now!

Feel free to check out the full event by clicking here. Fair warning, it's two and a half hours long.

Microsoft Press Conference
As said before, Halo 5 had both its campaign and Warzone debuts but that wasn't all, this year will also see the release of the Xbox One Elite Controller. There's never been a better time to get into competitive gaming. You'll also want to know that Xbox One Preview members now have access to backwards compatibility from yesterday onward. Normal members will have access later this year.

As EA came on stage during the MPC, they announced that both Titanfall and Dragon Age would be joining EA Access (EA's subscription based service) however for this week, you can have access to it completely free of charge. So give it a download and try out all the games there. You never know, you might find something you like.

After EA had the lime light, another, darker game trailer came on. I knew almost instantly. It was a dark, gritty trailer. Dark Souls 3. If you feel like your in the mood to rage and not think about nice things like puppies and ice cream or you're looking for a challenging game experience, then you'll probably enjoy this game.

Continuing on we got a quick look at Ubisofts "The Division" which is set in New York after a weaponized virus has killed most of the populace. The demo shows a group of survivors going into the "Dark Zone" which is an area where player on player combat, is enabled. Play brave or play bold as there will be a beta coming this December exclusively on the Xbox One.

However they didn't stop there. If you buy Rainbow 6: Siege you'll also get Rainbow 6 Vegas 1 & 2. Both of which are amazing games.

Up next is Cuphead. Imagine a Mickey Mouse type 1930's cartoon. Now imagine some crazy stuff being thrown into the mix. That's Cuphead.

Just after the Cuphead announcement came something that I'm sure alot of us will take advantage of. We've known for sometime that Steam has early access games. Games that you can play before they're fully completed. However now you buy early access or you can download a trial for that same early access title and then decide if you'd like to purchase it or not.

After that little bit of info, it was back to the games. This time it was Rise of a Tomb Raider or as my friend calls it, Womb Raider. Make of that what you will.

Rare decided to make an appearance as well but the decided to drop a bomb shell which would allow you to play the Rare Replay which consists of 30 games for $30. Good deal if you ask me.

if you've played Assassins Creed 4: Black Flag, then you'll know how fun it is to play as a pirate. Right after Rare made their appearance, we were told of an online multiplayer pirate game called "Sea of Thieves". You'll be able to explore tropical islands, cursed treasures and go into epic ship on ship pirate battles. This is one game that'll be a blast to play with friends.

A few months ago, Microsoft announced their Virtual Reality headset. Yesterday during the MPC we got our first real look at how it would affect games. To demonstrate this, they used Minecraft. It's truly mind blow technology. It'll be interesting to see how Hololense becomes more common in the next few years.

After the Hololense demo we were welcomed by Rod Fergusson, the head of Coalition Games. They had a few interesting things to announce, namely Gears of War: Ultimate Edition which you can see below.

That's not all, you'll also get early access to the Gears of War 4 Beta if you buy GoW: Ultimate Edition but now we're going to move on to something very near and dear to my heart. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. If you're not familiar with what's happening in this game, it basically shows our protagonist, Big Boss, go from Hero to Villain, and we get to follow him in his journey into darkness.

As you can tell, the game looks freaking amazing and by the looks of the end of that trailer, we get to see both Solid Snake and Liquid Snake. MGS V will release on September 1st.

EA Press Conference
EA opened up with something that alot of you will already know of or love, Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2. PvZ: GW2 sees the plants go on the assault for the first time. You'll also be able to play some Graveyard Ops (imagine Garden Ops only as the zombies) with your buddies! On top of that, you'll also be able to play both solo to practice killing those pesky plants or zombies by yourself or you can team up with a buddy and play split screen. They also mentioned that you'll be able transfer characters from the last game and you'll be receiving free content updates once the game launches in Spring 2016.

There was also some sports games announced but I won't lie, I almost completely tuned out for this part. Anyway, NHL 16, NBA 16, Madden NFL 16 and Fifa 16 were also announced but I'm sure all of you have heard of the free running platforming game, Mirrors Edge. Will yesterday we got our first look at Mirrors Edge 2 or as it is going to be known Mirrors Edge: Catalyst. Once again, the next generation of games continues to look amazing. Catalyst follows the origins of the games protagonist, Faith. It's also been said that the game will have no loading screens and will be completely open world so it'll certainly be interesting to see this title hit the shelves.

We also got our first look at the new Mass Effect title called Mass Effect 4: Andromeda. The game is said to now follow Commander Shepard and it'll also take place in another galaxy. Namely Andromeda which is the nearest galaxy to the Milky Way.

Of course the highlight of the show was Star Wars: Battlefront. The gameplay opens with the Empire assaulting a Rebel held base on Hoth. I'll not spoil the rest but feel free to watch the trailer down below.

Ubisoft
Ubisoft had a pretty good press conference. Lots of humor with only one or two things that were abit cringe worthy. The show open with a trailer to South Park: The Fractured But Whole. Yes. That is the games working title. Check out the trailer down below.

After South Park we had something a little more serious and abit more dark. For Honor. Basically you can play as a Viking, Knight or a Samurai. The game looks pretty badass and the live stage demo which had shown a 4v4 while to apposing armies clash in the heat of battle.

For those of you that are into driving games, The Crew is going to have a dlc called The Crew: Wild Run. This dlc will allow drivers to take part in Summits so now you can act out some of your favorite Fast and Furious scenes.

Ubisoft then proceed to show something truly crazy. A cat. Holding a gun. Riding a Unicorn. Breathing fire. There was also some explosions. And that was their introduction to Trials Fusion: Awesome Level Max Edition which will be available July 14th.

After that they had shown the Dark Zone of The Division however you can read above for more details on that. After the Division, we were shown a Sims/Civilization type game called ANNO. The game certainly looks interesting for anyone thats into a RTS type game. The fact that you can make space colonies seems like a pretty awesome edition as well.

After ANNO, we had Just Dance but I'm going to go ahead and skip out on those details as something more exciting was waiting in the shadows, Rainbow Six: Siege. However we were not shown some multiplayer aspects, instead, we were shown one of 4 terrorist hunt modes. This one seen a team of five try and disable a bomb. Feel free to check out the video down below. Rainbow Six: Siege will launch on September 24th 2015.

Next up, we had Assassins Creed: Syndicate. Lets just hope this one launches in a better condition than Assassins Creed: Unity. There was also a gameplay demo that they had shown so feel free to check that out down below as well.

Finally we were shown a 4 man group track down a Cartel in South America. The game would later be revealed as Ghost Recon: Wildlands which looks like its going to be an amazing title. With an open world and amazing scenery, this game is sure to be action packed and fun as hell.

- - -

Sony
Sony opened the show with The Last Guardian. A highly anticipated title for a few years now. Feel free to check it out down below.

After the Last Guardian we were introduced to a new IP called Horizon: Zero Dawn which is set after the fall of the modern age with animals being made of both organic and machine parts as well as robot, rocket firing T-Rex's. This game looks like it'll have an amazing story.

The shocks didn't stop there as a new Hitman game called "Hitman" (original, I know) was also announced. Though it was only a cinematic trailer, Hitman will be sure to fill all those contract killing needs and if you're lucky enough to have a PS4, then you'll also have exclusive access to a beta and 6 bonus contract missions.

I've never really been a fan of fighting games, mostly because I suck at them. However Street Fighter 5 was also announced during the Sony Press Conference. Street Fighter 5 will also have a beta exclusive to both the PS4 and PC which will start July 23rd.

We got another look this year at the PS4/PC exclusive title, No Mans Sky. The game continues to amaze and if you're looking for a reason to buy a PS4 then this game would be a good start. First off, its an open Galaxy and its freaking huge. I'll let you watch the video down below just so you can grasp how big this game is going to be.

There was also a unique art style type game made by the same developers that created Little Big Planet. The new title is called "Dreams" and it has a pretty cool and unique art style as well as allowing you to "paint" with your controller.

Guardians. When we brought Crota to his knees and vanquished him from his domain, we saved Earth. However Crota was the son of Oryx and when his son died, Oryx was enraged. Later this year, you will be called upon to defeat the army of The Taken. You will be our only only hope, in defeating the Taken King. Feel free to check out what awaits you in the Take King down below.

On top of that, this weeks weekly night fall is Omnigrill, or is it Omnigul? I forget from time to time. The modifiers this week are as follows;
  • Epic
  • Nightfall
  • Angry
  • Juggler
  • Void Burn
The weekly Heroic is The Nexus with the modifiers being as follows;
  • Heroic
  • Grounded
After the huge Destiny information drop we go a little more info on Assassins Creed where the player was able to play as Evie (the older twin) and some indie games but what really caught alot of peoples attention was the announcement of the crowd funded Shenmue 3. At the time of writing this article, Shenmue has already beaten its goal of $2,000,000 and is currently sitting on $2,700,000. Good job internet!

Right after Shenmue hit the screens, we heard a voice over from Commissioner Gordan of the GCPD. It was Arkham Knights time to shine. The trailer opened with a police officer walking into a cafe. As he sat down and ordered something from the waitress, a pedestrian walked over to him asking him to tell a man in the corner to stop smoking. As the officer walks up to the man, he's infected with a poisonous gas, the fear gas of the Scarecrow. A few moments later, the officer begins to see the civilians as zombies, he raises his gun and starts firing. He's then jumped by one of the "zombies" and is knocked out.

After a brief discussion about Morpheus (Sony's VR headset), something that caught everyone off guard came on screen. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. For the past few years, Acitivision has been in Microsofts back pocket however now they were here, on stage giving us our first look at the new Call of Duty title. There are a few things to take note of in the gameplay demo. First off, it can be played cooperatively with up to 4 people, Loadouts for the campaign are now done pre-mission and there's a new ability wheel that the player can utilize such as hacking an enemy ground drone. The gameplay looks alot like Titanfall while also maintaining the fast paced shooter that everyone knows and loves (or hates).

Finally, we have Uncharted 4: A Thieves End. Playstations answer to Tomb Raider sees Nathan Drake return and up to some shenanigans. Feel free to check out the trailer down below.

Now there will certainly be some content I missed and some content that at the time of this writing, has yet to be announced but I will continue to update the post below with any information that I have missed.

Due to the high amount of news this week, we won't be featuring any Minecraft Server news but feel free to join your fellow blockheads on our server at mc.halocustoms.com:25635

This weeks community spotlight features the departure of one of our most well known and beloved members, The Elder Acorn. Fear not, he'll be returning in a year or two and we'll be here to give him a warm welcome when he does eventually comeback. Check out his goodbye video down below.

On a slightly happier note, check out this Halo 4 Commissioning trailer...in lego form!

Can we get actual spoiler tags around the spoiler content, not just red warning text? Especially the RvB story spoiler right at the start, which isn't even marked as such. I usually binge watch RvB when the season is over as the episodes are far too short for one every week with continuous extra gaps filled with PSAs and other stuff. KTHX.

Consider it done.
